Home made stuff

I suggest first going to the library and borrowing a copy of "Weapons" by the Diagram Group.

Second, Home Gunsmith Forums are a great place to view this kind of discussion. THR usually has very little of this kind of talk.

THR usually has very little of this kind of talk.

This is mostly because building a zip gun is illegal. Having read your other post (Walfoort, not you PTK), I don't think your talking about building a 1911 or something similar.

bear in mind, that even making something yourself can be limited by law, maybe thats not a good thing and most here, I included think that the home craftsman who can manufacture a working model of a german 88 out of spare change and a few billets of cold role is to be lauded not jailed, but we do not make the rules, so make sure you are legal and contemplating legal activities when set about on this journey.

O.K.!

You have two posts on The High Road.

In the fiirst, you stated you have a spear, shield, and sword to defend yourself.

But you also stated you do not have a weapons permit, and cannot legally own a gun.

Then in your second post, you ask us how to build one!

Mercy!

BTW: If you have to ask how to build a gun, you probably shouldn't, if for no other reason then that!

Without more information from this poster about who and where he is or why he is looking for information to do something that is likely illegal I suggest a Mod lock this thread and speak with the OP about the rules and LEGITIMATE purposes of these boards.

It may be that there is some obscure reason this person is looking for this information for a legitimate purpose. I must say, however, I doubt it. It's more likely that this is someone trolling for information against legitimate firearms owners or that it's a thirteen year old disgruntled child somewhere looking to make a mark on the world. A bloody mark. We already have too many of those.

Legitimate???? (ProllyNot)

Wow! How to build a homemade gun....

I can just see a future "Dateline NBC" special expose' on how a naive wayward child was able to assemble a 155 howitzer from informating gleaned from forums on the Internet! And how those "big bad gunnuts" are corrupting our "utes".... :fire:

Me thinks rcmodel and alaskanativeson responses are probably right on...

That is, of course, unless the original poster is a monk in Tibet needing self defense protection or a Darfur genocide victim...

Hey Walfoort... what's the need for such advanced technology?? Ya got a spear, sword and shield already.... besides, after building a home made gun, you gotta build the home made ammo too! :neener:

Probably a troll but Federal law does not prevent an individual from making a firearm for their own use. My state does not but yours might.

You cannot make any weapon considered "NFA" which covers machine guns, silencers, short barreled rifles, short barrelled shotguns, some types of smooth bore pistol and other weapons. You are the only one that can follow the law. If it's confusing you might want to take the time to learn it or get it changed.

Semi auto pistols, rifles and revolvers can be made with rifled barrels. Shotguns that are not 'short barrelled' can also be made. Check your states laws on this. Some states laws are not kind to you if you try this even if the feds don't yet have a law prohibiting it.

Most people buy a kit of parts. I have an AK and 1919 kit. You will need to replace several parts to make it semi-auto and you have to replace the right number of American made parts to follow federal importation laws.

Then you need an 80 percent receiver. Disassemble the kit and sell off the parts you're replacing, do the machining on the 80% receiver to 100%, machine any other parts as required and then assemble the firearm. There are several things you will need to check to make a safe firearm, if you don't you'll be endangering yourself and others and liable for that oversight.

Know that this firearm is for you, while you may be able to sell it there are some restrictions.

"How do you make a homemade gun or different type of weapon"

Well. You take a piece of pipe, a hammer and a nail....naw, that ain't it.

Maybe that's a bad idea?

Suggest you take a class in how to build a blackpowder rifle. If you're thinking about a cartridge firearm, then you should attend a gunsmithing college and learn some machining.
