I might add to this if you have collectibles get them professionally apprised. The insurance company May considerer your 1895 production, factory engaved model 1894 Winchester of no more value then one bought at Wall-Mart 10 years ago.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread yet but when I read a number of posts reccommending State Farm, I had to respond! I was insured by State Farm for 19 years with only two claims ever. One claim was for damage to a car that drove by while I was mowing my lawn and it seems that a rock or something was ejected from the mower and took out the head light of the car- the driver also had State Farm so I do not know who's policy ended up paying. The other was for clearing up a large tree that had fallen across my driveway during a storm. Earlier this year, I made the the third claim which was ultimately withdrawn by me. I had two AK kits in a service engineers tool box that had gone missing with no signs of break in. Friends suggested that more might be missing so it did a quick inventory of some valuables, gold bullion, gold coins, grandpas gold pocket watch and a small amount of cash turned up MIA. So I made the claim for about $5,000. They said they would call back and I would have to make a recorded statement detailing the theft. During that time, I continued to search the house and found everything but the AK kits (I am old and forget lots of thing - like where I hid that gold!) so when they called for me to make the statement, I decided to withdraw the claim since the value of the kits was essentially the same as my deductable. Two months later I got a certified letter from State Farm saying that I was being cancelled "specifically because of my home based business building semi auto assault weapons and selling them on the internet". I could barely contain my anger! I have never built a firearm for resale and certainly not for sale on the internet! And I never told them anything like that or even hinted that is what I might have doing. I called my agent and was rather upset and did a lot of yelling at him. Did he realize that SF had just accused me of commiting felonies? He could not understand why I would be upset about that and said they would reinstate my policy if they could inspect my firearms collection so they could determine I was not selling them as a business! I responded with my firearms collection is locked in my safe, the parts kits were not since they cannot shoot and how would looking at my collection tell you anything? He said inspecting my guns would be the only way and I told him he would hear from an attorney next. I believe they came to the conclusion since I did tell them I sell stuff on line (eBay etc.) and that I had AK kits because I bought them to build them. State Farm somehow came to that cooclusion and has a problem with firearms but they will not tell you that up front. I did talk to some attorneys but no one wanted to get involved since there was no money in it for them. I believe now that when you make a claim, the insurance company expects and assumes that they are being defrauded and will do anything to not pay and cancel your policy in any case. It was a most unpleasant experience.

I always stay away from gun unfriendly companies, so thanks everyone for the tips. It looks like an insurance company I have is going to lose my business. I will look into it tomorrow.

As for the safety of my guns, my vault doubles as a bomb shelter. I'd like to see one of my guns break out. :D

I already know about State Farm. I encourage everyone that owns a gun to DROP SF like a used
C _ _ _ _ _. You fill in the word, my word may be a little tacky and in bad taste, however not vulgar.
