Gun Insurance

I got a quote from a company called Carpenter Insurance that specializes in firearms collections. Not too bad. You state the value of each gun, and they will simply pay that amount if it gets lost or stolen, or damaged by fire, flood, etc.

For those who are homeowners, I know your homeowner's policy may cover your firearms, but would it not be better to have a dedicated policy for your guns?

Another company I looked into is at collectinsure.com - but I can't seem to get them on the phone via their toll free number. Not a good sign.

Anyway, who has dedicated gun insurance, or who feels secure their guns are covered on some rider on another policy like home or renters insurance?

I have no idea if the company is legit -- and not to highjack the thread, but . . .
Wouldn't it be a great scam to set up a bogus website and send solicitations out asking for a list of guns owned and their value? Also ask whether there is anyone at home during the day and if you have a safe (affects rates). Nice shopping list for burglers!
