Wanting to move to FL and buy land for a home and hunting... How far do feral hogs roam? If I got some land that is good for hogs to live on, how much would I need to get to allow my son and I to hunt a few times a month without running them all off? I'd bait/feed them to keep them around if necessary.

Lets assume Fl hogs behave relatively like TX hogs.

Hunting them a "few times a month" will make them shy. Unless you are talking a couple of thousand acres. Hogs ain't the dumbest critter out there.

Baiting, cresote rubs will help to keep them around, not killing everyone you see also will help.

Hogs have no "Home Range" they decide to leave for any reason - they just do. They are prolific little suckers so elimination is difficult but constant hunting pressure will convinve them to find other place to go.

Here today, gone tomorrow. I have access to 2800 acres here in Polk County(central florida).Come on down and I'll show ya where they like to hang out at any given time of year.Weather and water play a more important part than food, but they sure do like that nasty old sour corn. Even if they dont hole up on a piece of property, they'll move through it and hang out a day or 2 if they have a good reason.(Easy Meal) Good luck to ya. If i can be of any help,E-mail me [email protected]
