Like strykervet said about the security system. But tell them up front what you want. Most of the basic residential panels won't do that. It's actually called partitioning. You can control certain parts of the house with a keypad in that area. You could leave a slightly used area of the house armed all the time until you go into that area. Most of the keyfobs has about a 250 ft range. That can be extended a little with a repeater though. Also I never recommend cell backups. I recommend cell primarys. The reason being is that if it is a backup then the alarm will have to fail to send the signal with the landline before before the cell unit kicks in.
