why dont we have the military guarding are nuclear facilities?
Nuclear power plants are all privately owned in the US, afaik, along with most all other power generation. (As it ought to be.) They just suffer from vast government regulation.

foghornl--No big deal, "cooling towers" are not critical equipment.
fix- We are Duke (in-house) entry level pay is around $14 or 15 I think(it's been a long time)
Everyone-We are a "paramilitary force", we have some training that law enforcement officers do not get and they have training that we don't get or need, different jobs, different training. As far as the little plane flying around with a drunk on the controls--a plane that size would do little damage.
Not to sound conceited, but the military can not do the job any better than it's being done now, where do you think we hire from?
Rapelling is a confidence builder, not really a sound tactic when in a defensive situation. Been there, done that.
There are a number of things that can not be talked about in a public forum (or in private for that matter) but there is more than meets the eye of casual observer and certainly the media.
Could it be better? you bet your a##. Are we a hard target? definitely.

SO whats the solution here? Federalize nuclear plant security? That worked out SO WELL with airports.

Maybe privatize (Nuclear Guarditize?) some quad .50's that're maybe sitting in storage somewhere? ;)

That's good to hear. Does Duke post openings for Oconee on their corporate site, or is all recruiting done at job fairs?
