I scored some Hornaday 30 cal. FTX 160 grain bullets on the cheap and thought they would be good for my 30-30. Got home and checked the reloading manual and noticed they only have 2 powders listed for 160 grain. My manual is a 2003 and only the one I have. Was wondering if there is more of a selection of powders offered after the printing of my manual or if anyone has a good load for these rounds. If not, I guess I know why I got these for cheap (or even found them). Thanks for any info.

Yes, there are more in the new Hornady and Hogdgon manuals. I'm not home at the moment or I'd screen shot it for you. Off the top of my head, I'm loading 32gr of Imr 3031 for this bullet and getting about 2300fps, this is right at the max, but my rifle usually runs slightly above others.

As you see below, Hornady doesn't show data for IMR3031 and this bullet, bit they show 31.4gr as max for 150gr rn. They didn't have much of a bullet selection in the 10th edition for 30-30.
The 2021 Hogdgon manual shows 28gr of 3031 as max for 160ftx, but for my gun I know that max is actually around 34gr of Imr3031 for the 160ftx. If you use 3031, you would want to use the starting charge of 26.8gr and work up from there.

Welcome to THR @hdtramp !
The .30-30 is a forgiving cartridge and I starting loading these FTXs since I liked the idea of a flex tip in a tubular magazine. Seems like everywhere you read you can use 3031- IMR 4895 and beyond. In fact the Leverevolution powder was developed for this, supposedly. It’s keyed up on my next powder order but in then meantime, I get good results with IMR 4895 and 8208. That’s in a 336. Good luck.
