I was able to get my hands on a couple of boxes of Hornady 154gr Interlock RN bullets to reload for my 7mm Rem Mag.

However, when looking at my Hornady manual, I could not find my powder that I have. I was able to find in my Lyman manual though, a 154gr jacketed sp for my powder.

Can I use the min/max for the jacketed sp since it is the same weight? Of course though it will have a different OAL since I'm using a RN.

Thanks for any comments.

Just use 150gr bullet data. The difference between construction and shape of bullet with accompanying seating depth will make more difference than the 4gr of bullet weight.

Hornady gives data in their manual, but you have to "buy" the manual. Try the powder manufacturers web site for data on that powder.... Just realize that the seating depth of the RN bullet is different than the pointed soft-point bullet.
Do reduce starting data 10% under max and you'll be ok.

The Hornady 154's are excellent bullets... They are a "tad" softer than the PtSpt's as they are primarily used in 7x57's, whereas the PtSpts are "apt" to be used in a 7mmMagnum of various forms... I've also seen some superlative accuracy from those bullets....
my .375 "loves" some older 270gr RN's I found at a gunshop for $10/box of 50 last spring... bought all three boxes!!! They are "pre-interloks" in cardboard boxes... circa-1960's-70's.....

First of all, what powder are you referring to? I have a large data base of published loads for the 7mm RM and will likely be able to provide you with various published / recomended loads. Is there some particular reason you haven't indicated which powder you are considering using, or is it just an over sight?

If you have found data for your powder in another trusted book, such is the case with Lyman, then use that data working up from the lower end, as with any new bullet / powder component.

As for the Hornady 154 gr. you are using, I have used that bullet for my 7mm RM with great performance. It's a great bullet for larger game such as elk & bear and deer size game.

Gamestalker I am using IMR4350. Awesome to hear about the great accuracy with these bullets. The lease I am on has a lot of brush and briars, hence the reason for getting these. I've been wanting to get a 30-30 because of this but then I saw these RN 7mm bullets and figured I'd just make my own type of 30-30 bullet but in the 7mm RM platform.

Hornady 154gr RN 7mm reload data

I recentlly bought a box of 154 hornday round nose, #2835 (that was once disconntinued I purchased from Hornady Site ) Purchased box 100 ea On sale ,23 dollars plus change and ship charges. As of this time of wrirting this reply, hornady still has these availiable the BC is 279 and the the Max COAL is 3.190. I also had concerns about the reloading of this round and contacted hornady tech. email. The copy that was emailed me showed about 18 different powders. I have been using Imr 4831 Min 54.8 2600 to 59.1 max 2800 you can always contact Hornday tech. and I am sure he will do you the favor and send you the info He was quite conciderate and helpful. You didn't mention the powder you were going to use could have given you min and max from the Hornady hanbook Page Which I rec 8/13/12

PS I noticed in another thread you were using IMR 4350,, Load data, ,,min 53.1 2600 to 58.3 2800

Yeah I'm using IMR4350. I contacted IMR and they sent me the min and max for it. I printed it off and put it in my manual. I have 200 bullets would should keep me in business for awhile. Add those with the 139gr sp w/c an I shouldn't have to buy any 7mm for awhile. I recently did a workup for my 139gr and my most accurate load was 57 grains of IMR4350. It measured .552". Which is good enough to put down a deer. I actually went out and bought another two pounds of IMR4350 same lot number I used for workup that way I don't have to work my load up again. Now I just have to workup my 154gr RN and I Gould be good to go for awhile.
