After several years, I finally took delivery of my custom Mauser this week. Beautiful grained English walnut. Perfect hand checkering, all screw heads oriented "north-South", 23 inch barrel with 1 in 9 twist. After many trial fittings of the stock in the gunmaker's shop it comes up like it's a part of me.
Now for the fun part. Finding what to feed my new baby. I bought a bag of Norma brass and the following bullets. Hornady 139gr BTSP, Nosler 140gr Partition, Hornady 154gr RN, Sierra 160gr Spitzer, and Speer Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 160gr SP. Checked the max OAL for each bullet with my Stoney Point tool, now to find the right combination.
