I have been having problems sizing .223 cases using Hornady's sizing die. As you can see from the picture at the end of the case it makes a ledge, but it only does it the one side of the case. Also it only does it with mil brass, ie WC, LC brass. I use Hornady's One shot case lube. I used to use Lee Dies and didn't have this problem. I made sure there was nothing stuck inside the die. I'm also using this die on a Hornady LNL progressive press. I have had this problem ever since I used this die. Has anybody else run into this problem? Do I have a bad die?

Measure the case below and above the unsightly sizing ring on the case.
If below the ring is more then .376", you have an oversize rifle chamber.

If in front of the ring is less then .376" you have a bad sizing die.

That's very strange. It actually looks like a Belted Magnum case!

I would suggest contacting Hornady because I have a feeling you are correct, you might have a bad die.

I measured the case, above of the ring, .369, below the ring .371, thanks for the help, I sent hornady an email

Just for the heck of it?

Look up in there and see if there is a broken-off case stuck in it.

Are you using the right shell plate/holder? If wrong it could kick the case to one side.

Looking at the necks it looks like your not sizing down far enough.

+1 on the neck not being sized all the way to the shoulder. AND +1 on the shell not being centered in the die. Something is NOT lined up!! Either the rim of the case head can't go all the way into the slot in the shell plate, or the die is out of line With the top of the press. Possibly a bad LNL bushing? It wouldn't be the first one.

Maybe try loosening up the die in the bushing, run a case up, then snug down the die lock ring? Not seen this with my LNL, Hornady die, with WC and LC 223 brass.

Try calling Hornady, you'll get a quicker response.
