So Santa came early today and I came home with a Hornady AP loader. I know that the bullet feeder is intended to be used with the auto bullet loader, but is there an advantage to, and will it work dropping the bullets into the feeder vs positioning each bullet into a case along with inserting an empty shell? I'm thinking I could rig a feeder tube like a primer feeder tube and load it with 10 to 20 bullets at a time to ease the difficulty I have with my big hands trying to position each bullet, especially a 380.

The source listed in the thread for the Lee Thinwall clear tubing (Linens N Things) dried up. The best place I've found to buy the tubing now is at Pet Mountain.com.

They are supposed to start bullets straighter than seating them by hand and I have often thought about buying one but just never got around to it. I guess that means I don't need one.

They use a collet and don't work well with lead bullets. I don't know how they would work with plated, wasn't going to spend another $20.00 to find out.

I'm sure it would depend on how thick the plating is.

I tried one for 38 Super and 9mm, based on what GW had written about them. I was using it on a Lee Classic Turret. I soon changed to shooting all lead and put it away.
A couple of months ago I ran across it and thought I would try it on my LnL AP, with the coated bullets I am now using. It worked excellently---until out of the blue it would suddenly drop all 40 or so bullets. Any time I saved I quickly lost by having to crawl around trying to pick up all the spilled bullets!!!
I have overcome the problem of fumbling with setting the bullets by putting a little more flare in the case mouth. If it shortens the life of the brass to 20 loading, rather than 25 or 30 I will just live with that.
