I just received a set of the new Hornady bullet feeder tubes so I opened one of the two (9mm and 40) Hornady bullet feeder dies I got a few months ago. As I was putting it back together after cleaning it, I realized I hadn't paid attention to which die I opened. I looked all over that %^$# thing and still couldn't tell which die I had in my hand. I know the appropriate US Patent but not what cartridge.

Am I missing something here? Does anyone have these dies with a caliber/cartridge label on it? If so, where???? If not, short of using a vibrating engraver on it, do you have any labeling tricks?

Its been a long day, but this is NOT supposed to be rocket science!

Thanks for any help!

P.S. I'm not completely brain dead at this point, I know I had the 40/10mm die in hand!:)

fiftybmg,

Thanks! I was past that point already. I understand why they would do it that way ($$$) but since they don't appear to sell just the collets, it seems reasonable to expect them to label the dies.

I enjoy having a Dremel engraver in my shop, but I also have an assortment of nail polish colors for color coding.

Funny i did the same thing with my 40 & 9 bullet feeders and probably used the same adjectives!

Baddad,

Thanks for the sympathy! Misery loves company!

9mmepiphany,

Where do you/they draw the line? They only sell the die body and collets together. Seems like they could spend a little extra time making it easier on their customers. It seems ridiculous to have to take something you (hopefully) have properly adjusted to identify it, or do some home engraving or painting to identify their product.

I'll probably give in/up and go buy some rather interesting nail polish colors this week.
