coonan1911,

It's a known issue.

Some have made metal backing plates added to the plastic piece.

Hornady NOW HAS A NEW REVISED SET-UP FOR THESE PARTS, EMAIL OR CALL THEM.

Yea, they'll send them to you for free.

I've had my LNL-AP for over a year and ran the snot out of it. It makes me wonder how those pieces are breaking.

They have to be defective.

I had to modify my top plast piece. It was not drilled out enough for proper adjustment, to allow the next primer to be picked up by the slide.

If you can post a picture of what broke.

Can you post any pix/description of the new/revised version?

what a great idea backing plate never thought of that.
i was thinking of asking one of the toolmakers were i am station to see if he would do a metal or alloy bracket while it still working as this is the last backup part i have left.
I did ring them and they were very helpful and he did state that the reason they do it in polymer is it stops the slider rod from getting damaged.
Which i guess it easy to replace polymer bracket than a stainless steel rod if it gets bent it useless.

Yep...the plastic, by design, is there to be a sacrificial part in case something goes wrong. If everything were metal the stress could break something more important.

I talked to them too when mine broke...it was my fault...but they sent me another one free of charge and I try to be more careful now. I need to revisit the old reloading rule of "don't force anything". The caveman in me loves to force stuff.

My LnL AP came with a spare one of those. I figured it was because it looks flimsy. Not sure what you'd have to do to break one or why they don't make it out of metal, but I'm sure there's a reason. I certainly can't imagine it experiencing much force under normal conditions.

Thanks guys for the comments on this issue.
And yes my LNL came with a spare Lucky as i was a bit disappointed when it broke in half right across where the screw goes into the press and i was a little surprise it broke because the s/s rod pop out of the bottom socket which has a small spring.
After ringing Hornady the technical support guy said it shouldn't have snap off there as the rod usually pop out under any pressure to stop any damage?
