Has anyone had problems with wichester large pistol primers jamming up the priming system. When I use CCI and Remington this does not happen. Basically the sliding arm will not come forward. I can dump all the primers and put Remington primers with no adjustments and it works smoothly. Sad thing is I only have 6K of Winchester large pistol primers left.

I had similar issues when I first started using the Hornady LnL AP. When I started reloading I started with 45ACP and Winchester LPP. Kept jamming up. I sanded every little piece that could and nothing resolved it. It was a weekend so no calling Hornady for an answer.

I finally went out (Cabela's is 15 minutes away) and bought some CCI #300 (LPP) and the trouble went away. I did call Hornady the following Monday and they sent out a new Large Primer Tuble cause they said there was some burr in the tube that I could no get to and was causing the primer in the tube to "catch" the primer in the sled. I don't know if that would have resolved the issue because I traded the remaining Winchester LPP that I had 1 for 1 CCI #300 with one of the guys that works at Cabela's and I decided then that it was CCI only for me.

Winchester LPP seems to be hit or miss with the LnL AP. I've seen other reports of issues and sanding and graphite "usually" solved the problem. Changing brands always solved the problems.

Thank you very much but it is surely not what I wanted to hear. I do not have the choice of changing my primers out.

Loosen the primer tube shroud 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. This gives a little "play" in the system. Also, polish the end of your primer tube.

Early on I had Win primer hang-ups. When I loosened the shroud and polished the tube my hang ups vanished. I have used Win/Wolf/Rem/Fed primers successfully. Haven't used CCI.

Sorry to hear that

Mine seats Winchester large rifle primers, and has no problem with them. I only had 10 Winchester large pistol primers, but I went through those setting up the machine. I am having trouble seating CCI large pistol, and CCI small pistol. Hornady is working with me on this problem, and I am currently awaiting parts. I have seen many posts now, on many forums, where folks are having some kind of trouble with Hornady's LNL primer system. I do have to say that I do not remember a time when the primer shuttle failed to move a primer over the ram, with any primers. Good luck, and please let us know what the fix is, when you find it.

All I fixed this problem by taking a round file and shaping the top of the hole just like the bottom. Oh my goodness 500 rounds today and not one hang up, it is so smooth now.
