I have the Hornady manual here opened to the 45ACP section and I'm looking at the page for 230gr FMJ-RN bullets. They show a COAL of 1.230. both the Speer and Lyman manuals show a COAL of 1.260 - 1.280 which seems more in line with what I've seen. I created a few rounds with a COAL of 1.230 and they do not feed reliably in my Combat Commander. I've run about a thousand rounds through it though of the plated bullets from TheBulletWorks.net with a COAL of 1.265 and they feed beautifully.

Do you think that's a misprint in the Hornady manual?

That Hornady bullet is a truncated flat point, not a RN as is assumed, and rightly so, by most who read that. So, 1.230 is right for it, but not for the standard 230 Gr RN bullet, where 1.260 to 1.265 is more like it, although some load it a hair shorter, and some a hair longer.

Well naturally. :)
