i have a hornady neck sizer for 30 caliber that i use on my 300 mag. it seems that when i press the bullets into place, they go in just a little too easy. like not enough tension. can i just sand down the neck expander part of the die? or is there a better way of getting more tension. let me put it this way. the amount is so slight, that without crimping the bullet in place, i would feel very uncomfortable about having one loaded in the magazine while i touched another one off. or, is the fact that i am annealing the case necks softening them to much to grip well?

Double check that the sizer is sizing the neck enough. (Take out the expander plug) Then if you have plenty of neck tension that way, carefully polish the expander down a bit until you get what you want. Of course, this mod is permanent, at least in one direction anyway.

Chuck it up in a drill press, drill in a vise, lathe, etc., and polish the plug with 400 and 600 grit. Use pressure and worn paper on the final step to help get it smoother.
