Well I tested this stuff out and it worked on the .30-30, but it didn't work worth a damn on .30-06. I had 4 stuck cases and one that I had to disassemble the die and drive the de-capper out with a drift. I may use this stuff up on the .30-30 but I will keep my pad and lube. When the one shot is gone it is gone from my bench unless one of you can explain why it won't work on .30-06.

By the way...I recognize the formula. It has either carbontetracloride or tricloraldifloraldietheline (or tricloraldifloraldiethane) as a propellent and a liquid cozmoline that cures to a thin protective film. Canned under a different name we use it, where I work, to preserve and protect outboard engines on our boats. They are in a saltwater environment. (Emergency Ship Salvage Material [ESSM])NAVSUPSALV....

Granted, I haven't reloaded much for rifle, but the only one I do reload for is '06. The One Shot works for me.

Spray it on, wait one minute, get busy resizing. I spray the cases at an angle so I get the lube inside and out. When the cases are resized, they go back in the tumbler for 30 or so minutes.

Well Hi Stinger. That's just what I did. Now, after the great fight getting them resized and reaching for an extra to replace the one that I had to hacksaw the head off to get my de-capper back...It will bother me that I sprayed this lube into the cases where the powder goes. It never drys. It just becomes a waxy thin film.

Just removed the .30-06 from the tumbler. Checked them with a caliper. They were trimmed to 2.485 inches. After resizing they are 2.495 to 98. I have never had these cases stretch that much after resizing. That's a lot of metal movement there.

Use Imperial wax. Way cheaper. One can lasts a long time.

Why not go back to my RCBS pad and lube. As my Recreational Supervisor just said as she looks over my shoulder. "If it isn't broke, why fix it..." The RCBS lube has worked for 20 years. I find it hard to argue with her on this. :banghead:

I still use my pad and RCBS Case Lube. Haven't found a reason to change and a little goes a long wayyyyyyyy.

Your experience surprises me. I just used One Shot to lube 500 .45-70 cases and am working my way through loading 1,000 .308 cases. No problems. I almost hesitate to ask, but did you use the red can that says "Case Lube" or the black can that says "Gun Cleaner & Dry Lube"?

me too ive used it on everything for the last 5 years with no trouble now the lyman spray thats another deal lots of stuck cases with that crap.

Gentlemen I understand the concern in your posts, but I can read and it says "Case Lube" Like I said, it worked quite well on my .30-30 cases. And just before anyone thinks of it. No. these (.30-06) are once fired cases. By the way Car Knocker....45-70 are straight wall cases and should be easy to resize.

Not really a problem. I was just trying out a new way to do things and I had heard a lot about One Shot. Too bad it looked promising. No problem...Go back to RCBS pad and lube and pre-wipe cases before putting back into the tumbler.

308win Looks like we will be the only ones using the old primetive method of lubing our cases. Guess I will have to break out my bear skin and club...

When I've got volume to do Dillon case lube works for me but on less than 100 count lots I really like the Imperial Die Wax.It makes me slow down and do a better case inspection.If you like the pad have at it but I'll never go back.

i used that frankford arsenal stuff and it works great, if your willing to give another spray a chance. i only did it on 223, but i did a hundred of em and it went well.

Must admit - thus far only used with 45-70 cases .. and yeah - straight wall. yet to try on bottle necks - maybe I'll test carefully in case of probs.

Could be back to ''usual'' pad with RCBS!!

I've used it on .223, .308, 7mm Rem, .30-06, .243 just to name a few. Haven't had any problems with it at all. Now I do, occasionally, take the decapper rod out and spray down the expander ball and the inside walls of the die. This seems to really help.

Like I said...I had no problem with the .30-30's. Just the .30-06's. As stated before. I will go back to my lube and lube pad.

P95Carry...Let me know what happens when you do bottle neck. As I am not perfect (I can't walk on water yet. I just sink slowly) I may still be doing somthing wrong, but the .30-30's went so smooth...I don't know..

How about making your own???

Take one tube of Lee case lube and one bottle of rubbing alcohol(16 oz. I think) Mix them together really good and apply from a WD-40 squirt bottle. Spray down at a 45 degree angle to get it inside the case necks from all 4 sides and let dry. The alcohol evaporates and leaves the lube behind. It doesn't stink like the one shot.

All this is making me think it's well past time I got to some reloading!! Apart from doing up odd 20 rounds of 45-70 here and there - it is an age since I got into a decent session.

I cheat too much - WWB .223's, milsurp 7.62x51, Russian this and that ... and WWB 9mm too. Getting way too lazy. If I try the One Shot on bottle necks it'll be on .308's - hope to do a batch of those soon when I can get out of procrastination mode!

I had the same problem loading .308 dies. Cases would stick unless they were sopping wet. I had to buy a new sizing die thanks to that junk. I've switched to Dillon Case Lube and my problems have gone away.

The government banned most uses of carbon tetrachloride a long time ago, it was a great electrical contact cleaner, electronics techs really missed it.

I've used Hornady One Shot on every bottle neck case I reload, never a single problem of any kind.

JNewell, I did have some problems when I started using this. I wasn't letting the stuff dry long enough. I was resizing them before they were compleately dry and stuck a couple. After I let them dry compleately the problems went away. I take an old bakers cooling rack with 1/2" holes and put my cases in every other hole to give a little room for the lube to get down on the lower part of the cases. This also keeps my fat fingers from knocking them over. causing the domino effect. After they are all staning up I lift the cooling rack up and off the cases. I then spray the lube down at a 45 degree angle, this makes sure that the lube get in the case necks. After the lube dries the cases are left with a coating of powdery white lube on them. You can speed the evaporation by running a fan over the cases. I do this on really humid days.

I did a hundred or so last night in about 5 min. After resizing/depriming a run through the tumbler cleans them up.

Case lube $1.95 + Alcohol $0.95 = Cheap case lube.

The WD-40 sprayer seams to be alcohol tollarant. The first sprayer I used was a cheapy that lasted about 30 squirts.

The only two cases I have ever stuck in dies were .223 cases, and I was using Hornady one shot and stuck them both on the same day in two different die sets. The lee set I was able to extract the case using the decapper as a punch per lee's instructions. The Redding set I had to send to redding since I ripped the case head off trying to get it out by drilling and tapping the flash hole.

I sprayed all of the cases real well and let them dry.

Honady one shot has a horrible smell, and it did not work for me. I threw my one can in the garbage, and my neighbor could probably hear me cursing when I stuck that second case in my spare die set.

I use Dillon lube with no problems (lanolin dissolved in alcohol), and I use Lee wax applied by finger, and have never stuck a case with either one of those.
