Let me begin by saying that I purchased my CZ 75B approximately six months ago and love it. Feels good, shoots where it's pointed and so far, after approximately 1,000 rounds, hasn't had a missfire. But.......
I was at the range earlier this week shooting the 75B seated at a bench. Was wearing my everyday tri-focals and everything was going great until the "B" decided to flip a hot brass just right to go between the right top of my glasses frame and eyebrow, landing directly on my eye lid! At this point, things began to happen rather quickly. I grabbed for the brass (still glued to my eyelid) and hit my glasses instead. I then jerked my glasses away from my face and grabbed the sizzling piece of brass. I then realized that I no longer had the 75B in my hands. I looked down and it was on the ground between my feet. My first reflex apparently was to shuck the pistol and address the pain. My eyelid felt like it was on fire and was very painful for a half hour or so....thankfully no damage was done.
Lesson learned? I'll never again pull the trigger on a pistol without having a pair of glasses that fit closely to my forehead......mine normally do but apparently had worked themselves down from all the perspiration and activity.......a head band seems like the sensible solution. I had always considered eye protection was for the straight on hit....never dreamed it would be possible to flip a 9mm casing between the glasses and the eye lid!
I have several auto pistols and the 75B seems to be the only one that has chosen to eject the casing directly to the rear. Anyone else had this to happen?
