ok i know several people have discussed this befor. what clothes do you wear in a shtf situation or say just a hot august day at the range. we all know in hot weather and pits privates and peds get nasty and in an effort to keep them under control measures have to be taken. with this in mind i would probably have my utillikilt yes i am scotish or at least partly and no the utilikilt is not wool. http://www.utilikilts.com/. i know i get alot of looks when i wear mine but thier verry comfortable and i can also add if you have problems meeting wemon wear a kilt once it would seem that they have no control when faced with the power and cofidence of a man in a kilt. and i know it has been said befor but it takes a real man to wear a kilt lol but seriously what are your thoughts on a utillikilt as an idea for wear in a shtf situation to help keep down on the swamp problem? personaly i like it

I never knew such a thing existed till now.

You're right though, should help with what we used to call "monkey butt" after being in the field without a shower for too long.

The cheaper ones look too much like boxing shorts for me though. Something about the silky looks like a no-go to me.

A hot August day at the range and a SHTF situation would require totally different clothing, IMO. With the former you can be more comfortable, and with the latter you need longevity.

For the range, I usually am in shorts with pockets and belt loops and a tshirt. Socks and boots too, usually. I have a Utilikilt too, and love it, but I'm married for going on ten years now, so meeting women isn't an issue for me. :) I'd only wear it to a range that I'd been a member of for a long time. I wore it more down in MA, being a wierder place, but up in ME it's more conservative, so the funny looks would go up a lot, I imagine.

Why would someone be stupid....

enough to cause a SHTF at a gun range with everybody having a gun in hand......? I, personally, would not wear a kilt to the range. There may be queers there and when you bend over to pick up your brass, you might get a big surprise.........chris3

I've got plenty of self-confidence but I don't believe that I could keep a straight face wearing one myself.:uhoh: I am happy if it works for someone else though.

In MA, those modern kilt things are apparently really popular among the gay "bear" crowd. Check the company site's calendar, they're selling at Pride festivals and a..um.."international Mr. Leather." ..I don't wanna know!

More just a case that you might get unwanted attention...

As for SHTF, having Coolmax or antibacterial-cloth underwear in your kit is a good idea, Coolmax socks as well, and the same combat-bath wipes that soldiers use in the field.

There's also something to be said for plain old talcum powder...many uses for that (door seals being sticky in hot weather, etc) besides just personal hygiene.
