Personally at 79 years of age I don’t worry too much about such matters. I’m of the opinion I have a much better chance of winning the big lottery than I have of being involved in a situation that would require me to shoot another being.
I can keep all my aimed shots on a stationary target within a human torso out to 50 yards with a hand gun and within 15 yards within a human size head , I’m not practicing to do so, just enjoying the ability to do so. Moving target in a room full of people is not something I’d ever want to try or I don’t believe I’d try.

closing to powder burn distance before firing is more realistic.

I can't see any other scenario in which I would discharge a firearm in a crowded sanctuary. But this presents a very high likely hood of sacrificing yourself in the process of doing so.

I think it's best to make up your mind on this topic in advance, as there'd likely be no time to think about it and your instinctual reaction is likely going to be to freeze, hide or run. Living with some things may be more of a burden for some than the alternative.

It's intensely personal
