Hey.

When I bought my Remington 870 at a store months ago, everyone said that the shows have the better prices. Now we're about to get 2 handguns-most likely an XD9 and a S&W 642 (or bersa 9, that one's for the wife).

I seem to keep seeing that folk are blasting show prices rather than praising them. I was planning to go to the HC show in April. But now not so sure. What have y'all been seeing at the shows price wise? Is it worth it?

there are still some good bargains at the guns shows around Houston. But you have to know the current market prices of what you are buying. There are some big dealers/wholesalers at the larger shows such as the one at Reliant Center and the George Brown shows and their prices are about as low as it will get. (especially for the more available types of guns mentioned by the OP) But walk the entire show before you buy (unless you stumble across something very rare and don't want it to get away) Even if you are looking at evil black rifles, they won't all sell out before you walk the entire show..... take pen and paper and write down prices...... its called comparison shopping.....

The price rises in the stores seem to have kept pace with that of the shows, With other than .22s, things are still pretty much 10-25% less expensive at the shows. But the shows have been too crowded to be really enjoyable.

Price check a few of the big gun stores on Friday afternoon to get the current prices on what you want. Saturday morning go to the show and see what they are there. If cheaper at the show, buy it. If not, go the store after you leave the show and get it there.
