How Awesome Would This be - or am I crazy?

Well I was looking at the Benelli M3 with the folding stock and I was thinking, how neat would it be if it could use detachable magazines rather than an internal one?

Knoxx offered a kit to make the Mossy 500 accept detachable magazines, so is it totally out of the realm of reality to get an M3 to accept detachable magazines?

Any ideas on how this could be done? Cost?

Benellis are nice shotguns, but for what an M3 costs one could field a couple of Saigas with plenty of ammo.

The Saigas are the best buy,as near as I can tell.

For tacticool, that Saiga is hard to beat. I don't know why anyone would want a ba$tardized hunting shotgun in lieu of it, frankly. I mean, I'd rather the Saiga for a tacticool toy or defense than a tacticool pump, personally. I mean, if you want a fighting shotgun, it's hard to beat.

I'm not a tacticool kinda guy, but I must admit a certain attraction to the Saiga. It'd be pretty awesome as a bear defense gun in Alaska and I don't think there's another combat shotgun that can match it for sheer firepower. I'm not in any dither to get one, all my shotguns are wing shooters, but I'm just sayin'.....

There was development with box mag fed Super 90s early in the design's life (in conjuction with Beretta). Photos of a box fed Super 90 can be seen in the book Guns of the Elite (both editions). In the book, the gun is labelled as a Beretta but has the characteristics of a Benelli. The resolution of the photo does not help in determining the name on the side of the gun (too blurry and both companies have the same number of letters in their name - plus double letters in the same location).

If you want to see one in action, watch Alien Nation with James Caan. In the beginning, the bad aliens use a box and rum fed Super 90 in the store.

I'm not up on the laws with the streetsweeper/jackhammer/etc--how is it the Holy Imperium considers a streetsweeper a DD, but the saiga with a 20rd drum is fine?

With the Saiga out there at a reasonable price, why bother with a 12 shot single action revolver? If that's what ya want, get the 20 round drum with the Saiga. Get two and you can reload in a fraction of the time you can with a street sweeper. Of course, I hear the mags ain't cheap, but hey, it's a better system IMHO.

I have never had the pleasure of handling a Saiga 12. I own a Knoxx modified detachable box magazine Maverick88. I had lots of problems getting the shotgun "right". Member Kirbythegunsmith worked with my gun working out the quality control problems with both the Knoxx mod and trigger of the Maverick88.

If I had to do it all over again I would start searching for a Saiga 12. An autoloader with detach box magazine would IMHO be a much superior tactical defense weapon then mine is.

USAS-12 and Striker 12/Streetsweeper were banned specifically by name.

Only thing is, the drums cost about as much as the gun at $319.99 per drum.

Buy hey, that means $760 gets you a 20rd capacity semi-automatic shotgun... or you could just settle for a few 10rd mags for about half the price of one drum.
