Illinois Supreme Court ruled banning all semi-auto firearms.
Are they nuts or stupid in light of the Heller decision?
What are the legal issues between state and federal courts?

States have been there and done that for First Amendment for years/decades until permanent enforcement was placed by the way of federal/state laws - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...eme_Court_cases_involving_the_First_Amendment

While state supreme court can do whatever they want, if there is constitutional challenge to the US Supreme Court, the highest court of the land ultimately gets to decide what is constitutional and what is not.

Join the club, us Californians are used to crazy state lawmakers and even more crazy 9th Circuit ruling all kinds of crazy things like "first in the nation" total ban on all new semi-auto handguns by the way of "handgun roster".

Well, some people disagreed and challenged CA law in federal court and already Boland v Bonta and Renna v Bonta preliminary injunctions were issued - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-legal-challenges.913421/page-3#post-12595428

Can we have a citation of IL law supporting this assertion, please.

The IL AWB is rife with hyperbole, innuendo, and unsupportable assertions. To my current knowledge, the IL AWB is also at least temporarily stayed at this point.

As to the question of "How can legislatures/legislators make incompetent laws?" that's well beyond THR's scope as I understand it.
