Shooting actual targets or competitively shooting at a 1K Rifle Range is a bucket list item to many folks. Being a North Florida Resident I'm Blessed with at least 4 1K Rifle Ranges within a 3 hour drive. Is there any way that US folks here could put together a listing by geographical area of 1K Rifle Ranges that folks roaming the country could use to match opportunity to purse strings?

I'll submit Fort Stewart (Savannah Georgia) usually on the first weekend of every summer month as a non-competitive opportunity to actually shoot at the 1K line. Camp Blanding (Starke, Fl) offers local & competition challenges at an actual 1K Rifle Range. I'll skip the Private/Semi-Private Rifle Ranges with Membership fee's and annual dues.

So what can we post/do to allow folks with $20 Bucks in thier pocket an opportunity to actually post a score on an actual 1K firing line?

Okay, as a side note to all those Government Sponsored Precision Shooters, 912 Meters is approximately 1000 yards. But common folks can relate to 1000 yards and 1/4 MOA increments on thier scope turrets. But I request Y'all's indulgence in order to introduce other shooters into the realm of the actual 1K firing line. Thanks for Y'all's Help.

we have a lane cleared out at our lease for 600 yards...but being SE Texas most of us don't bother unless someone brings their 300 WM or the owner brings out one of his 50's.

At 600 I thought I was going to see how good I was with my sporterized 308 mauser...I shouldered up and saw how small that silhouette was...I managed to hit the the paper after a few shots...then managed to keep it on paper and scattered the shots. I learned right there that you get what you pay for with glass :D
After that, the Simmons came off and a Nikon went on. :)

Don't want to sound like a snob, (SNARKY) but at a zero distance that only let's you calculate an actual zero on the Thousand Yard Line, Y'all skipped the 900 Yard Zero for actual shoots on the Thousand Yard Line. But it sounds like Y'all learned a life lesson at the 600 Yard line. Good glass is priceless, but how are WE going to incite folks to scratch the mark at an honest to goodness thousand yard line. (Note a 175 Match King from standard .308 Win velocities remains supersonic at 1000 yards) so .300 Win Mag isn't a prerequisite to shooting a perfect score on the thousand yard line. More than just my opinion.

Anyone I'm willing to trust is welcome to shoot the horizon (over 2k) rarely have takers though even at 600.

It's a matter of caliber and supersonic range horsey300. I won't exercise a shoot on anything other than paper that exceeds the supersonic range of the round I'm sending downrange. But I merely ask that Y'all share with others a Rifle Range that allows the common man a chance to exercise thier abilities on a 1K Rifle Range at a price point that the common man can afford without whining to thier spouse. JMHO.

Get enough veloctiy and elevation and you’ll have to worry about the bullet hitting you in the back of the head.

I hear this is becoming a concern with that fancy new “CREED” all the cool kids are shooting these days

I thank you for your input, but I'm questioning what ranges in your local area offer a chance for someone to scratch the mark at an affordable 1 thousand yard firing line?

Let's stay on topic Please! Or at least reference the topic PLEASE!

I live about 45 minutes from the range in Williamsport PA. There is a 300 yard range 2 miles from my house. There is a second 300 yard range about 10 miles from my place. I have a 500 yard range on my property. I live in central PA. All are affordable.

I live about 15 minutes from our range which includes a 1000 yard range. We also have a 500 meter steel silhouette and two 200 yard bays. As far as know anyone can use it for a $10 daily range fee. Members can use it anytime.

You don't need glass if you have decent vision. I started with a Garand using iron (match) sites. As noted the 175 grain Siarra's or the 155 grain Sierra's HPBT Match are the bullets to use. For some reason the 168 grain just doesn't have the right combination of mass and BC too get to 1 grand super sonic at a safe muzzle velocity.

M118LR, The next county to my south has a 1k yard line. Manatee Gun and Archery to use the 1k line is an extra charge for renting the golf cart to check and change targets. I haven't been down there since the dust up over Gene Pitts and club guns, last time it was $25.00 for a day of shooting.

20 minutes or so to the local range which goes out to 1,030 yds and costs $85/year. There are also numerous patches of public land within an hour drive where you could stretch out much further than that.

We have a 1000 yard range called the west desert, several hundred square miles of mountains, valleys, jackrabbits, and the occasional wild horse. I've never shot 1000 yards on it, but I've helped set up for my cousin who shoots competition @ 1000 yards quite often. It's free, other than the setup work and cost of food/gas/water. Always take lots of water. It is a desert after all.

Step out my back door and I go to 600. Range pictured below is 6 miles, one of a few properties I own which is safe to shoot long distance, this particular spot can go to 1600yrds. The 6 Creed pictured stays supersonic to 1400, my 300RUM and 300win past 1400, and 338 past 1900.

@M118LR must have grown up in the city before he signed in, 'cuz there's a lot of this great Nation where us folks own property suitable for long range shooting, any time.

Price is $Free.99 for me.

The nearest 1000 yard range to me is about 1 hour away depending on traffic. Membership is required, you have to get on a waiting list, and an existing member has to quit to add a new member. Published prices start at $265.00, other costs are unknown.

The next closest 1000 yard range is 1.5 hours away. Membership is required, which is $100.00 per month. Other costs are unknown.

For me, it really doesn't matter as I don't have a rifle that will reach 1000 yards.

1 mile. Our club has a full 1 mile range(but that is only available on Fridays or when no one else is shooting. The open all the time ranges allow targets to 865 yards. Membership is $85 per year. Don't let jealousy overcome you.
