I just joined a range last week and finished orientation. There is a plinking range to 100yds., high power ranges of 200,300,600,800,900 and 1000 yds., competition ranges of 25,50 and100 yds., bench rest range of 50, 100 and 200 yds., action pistol ranges for IDPA, IPSC and SASS, skeet and trap ranges, archery field range and indoor pistol range. They are working o a sporting clays area now. I feel fortunate that all this is offered within 25 minutes of me. I look forward to using this extensively.

Well, there's a range out west of Fort Worth with such a range. It's $40 the day, though. ($75mo/$800yr)
They have a 2000yd range too--$50 the day or $100mo/$1000yr.
And at least an hour and a half from my house in Arlington.
But, they have no ammo restrictions.
There are a couple of DFW ranges (3 IIRC) with 1000yard lanes; prices are all over the place. Also, none allow FMJ.

Thank Y'all for the input. Please don't forget to mention the name and state so that folks looking to shoot 1K can research ranges in thier areas, or areas that they plan to travel to. Thank Y'all once again, please continue.

I'm in KY. Im 2 hours from Rockcastle Shooting Center, and I beleive it's the only 1000 public range in KY. I'm only 10 minutes from a 300yd range, Knob Creek. Not sure of the cost to shoot at Rockcastle, but they do have PRS shoots there.

Mifflin country sportsmen club in lewistown pa. 17044. google it up.

My range is in Oak Ridge TN, the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association. It is a private club, but guest are welcome if brought by a member. Cost is $150.00 a year. Sorry for omitting this in my first post.
The Oak Ridge range is a nice operation and well run club. I shot several matches there when I was with AMTU and on the Army Rifle Team. I remember that one year, back in the '60, the Wimbledon Trophy Match was held there rather than Camp Perry. Mostly I remember how hot it was that day. But that was long ago and I expect the guys I met there are long gone. Nice to remember anyway.

1 mile. Our club has a full 1 mile range(but that is only available on Fridays or when no one else is shooting. The open all the time ranges allow targets to 865 yards. Membership is $85 per year. Don't let jealousy overcome you.

Step out my back door and I go to 600. Range pictured below is 6 miles, one of a few properties I own which is safe to shoot long distance, this particular spot can go to 1600yrds. The 6 Creed pictured stays supersonic to 1400, my 300RUM and 300win past 1400, and 338 past 1900.

@M118LR must have grown up in the city before he signed in, 'cuz there's a lot of this great Nation where us folks own property suitable for long range shooting, any time.

Price is $Free.99 for me.

Sweet. I would love those arraingments! Lots of 100, one 200 (not that expensive, but not that cheap), 300 at a little drive that isn't way expensive (200 start, 100 yr) that you have to have a member sponser. Beyond that, not sure if it exists, sadly. Near KC, MO. If I am missing something, sing out please!

I had one 20 minutes down the road until about 6 months ago, it had been open for about a year until the neighbors/town shut it down. Membership was only like $80 a year. The town backdoored them and got them on zoning violations but it all stemmed from neighbor’s complaining. Had been a range since the 1940’s but once they opened the 1,000 range membership went up 10 fold with people driving from out of state to shoot there. Increased membership = more booms and it didn’t take long before the neighbor’s lawyered up and the town issued a cease and desist. The club had the greenlight from the town initially but the guy who gave the greenlight has since retired and the new guy who’s an anti said no more. Too bad, it was a really nice range with targets from 100 – 1,050 yards. You can still shoot your magnum’s out to 300 yards but you can’t shoot past that, even though the range is still there, if that makes any sense.

There are no 1K rifle ranges anywhere near me. However I just want to point out that shooting is legal on most National Forests. There are rules of course, like no shooting across roads, no exploding targets, no tracer ammo, and there are seasonal prohibitions during high fire danger times.

I can think of one prairie on my local National Forest where you could shoot 2 miles if you want. Buy a gong, and have at it, but do your homework and check out there area first.

Not a range per se’ but the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands are within 30 miles. Hunted it quite a bit, and if you have a gong or other steel target and a range finder you’re in business for the cost of your equipment and fuel.

Or I can use the Fall River County Shooting Sports Complex, which is free, and only about 10 miles away. Range only goes to 800 yards right now though, so technically doesn’t count. Pistol range out to 50 yards, rifle range with 50, 100, 200, 500, and 800 yard berms/distances. Open to public Wednesday through Sunday, members only Monday and Tuesday. Membership is about $30/year for a single $60/year family. Usually not busy. Highly recommended.

Range also has adequate parking, paved side walks, pavilion with tables, covered firing positions on concrete slab, and benches (also concrete). Target shed is full of target frames and repair materials, as well as an honor code money jar to buy targets and ear plugs if you don’t have any.

Good people usually frequent the place. I once observed a bag full of cotton cleaning patches and a bronze brush with a note on it. Someone left it on a bench, and another shooter put it in the target shed with a note. Bag was there for months. No one touched it.

I live in SE MI, and there is only one official club (Washtenaw Sportsmens) or range that I am aware of that goes out to 600 yards. Everything else is 100.200, or 300. There may be some on the other side of the state or in the north.

My local indoor range (2 miles) has a 100 yard indoor. :)

The only 1000 yard range I'm aware of is at Camp Grayling near Grayling Michigan. I also believe that they were going to open up the range at Fort Custer (near K-zoo) to 1K. They are not open to the public but the Washtenaw Club has held matches there. Join their club and take up High Power Rifle.

About a mile away (Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club) in Albany. The 1000yd range is only open a couple days a year though. I think its $50/year these days.
