How did I do on my first big rifle?

How did I do on my first big rifle? w/ PICS.

I made a post last week asking about the value of the rifle I was looking to buy from my boss. You guys helped me with a ballpark number of what it is worth and I made a lower offer.

I ended up picking up this Remington 700 BDL DM with 24" Stainless barrel and synthetic stock. It is chambered in 7mm Rem Mag and has a Leupold VX-III silver scope.
I also one box of Remington Corelokt ammo and one box of Winchester Supreme BST ammo.
An extra nib magazine, scope covers, and a nice sling.

I got the original boxes and all. It is is awesome condition, having fired only around 10 rounds. I couldn't be happier with the rifle, it is exactly what I was looking for. The only thing wrong with it is that there is a little handling nick on the scope.

Does anyone know what the proof stamps on the right side of the barrel mean?

I got all of this for $675. How did I do?

the sling would be 20, the remmy ammo is 20, the winny is 30 to 35, the rifle is a good 600 and the scope another 250 plus. Sounds like you got about 1000 bucks worth of stuff for 675, nice score!!!!

Nothing is worse than some blurry, dim pic in a guy's living room... with his feet in the photo... and then he's asking what we think of the rifle.

Thanks for the nice words guys. The pics didnt take too long... about 2 minutes with my point and shoot 3mp panasonic digital camera.

Bazooka Joe, I am going to shoot it this weekend and if I cant shoot groups smaller than minute of car tire , I'll sell it to you for that price.

I'll make sure to take some pics of my groups.

I'm not a stainless fan either. That being said, I would have bought that rifle in a heart beat for that price. Don't worry about nicks in the scope; they happen. I almost crapped my pants when I found rub marks on my Leupold Mark 4 from riding on the 4wheeler and bumping against my binocs, but that stuff is bound to happen unless the rifle is a safe queen.

FWIW, you should buy a reloading press so you can shoot more for the same dollar .

I think it is just because of the way I had the gun propped up and took the picture one handed. I will have to check that when I get home though. Thanks.

It's a very good deal for the rifle in its condition and a VX3. I'm not keen on synthetic stocks or stainless, but that will serve you very well, I'm sure, and retain its value.
