I haven't fired my Winchester 1400 in over 10 years. Will someone review with me the proper way to load the shells in the gun and get the first round off? Thanks.

Are you even serious?

Before anyone tells you how to do this, I have some advice, take a firearms safety course, read the owner's manual for your particular firearm, and if you still can't get it, sell every gun you own, because you definitely do not seem responsible enough to andle them.

BTW, sorry if I came off as rude, but that really was a foolish question.

Yes I am serious

Why do some people ask similar questions and get logical well thought answers, and I get this what kind of a boob are you answer. I have shot expert in all of the weapons I shot during 37 years of military service. I am not a stranger to firearms, but I would like a reasonable answer to loading my Winchester1400 safely. If you can't do that, please don't answer my post.

Here is your manual. Loading is covered, as well as a few other items.

Let us know if you have any other questions, some are more willing to help than others.

Buck,
Your question sorta implies less than "expert" qualifications over a 37-year period.
It sounds like a person with pretty much no experience at all, if you can neither recall how the gun works nor figure out how to load & fire it.

Zombi put it bluntly, but understandably.
Just hard to believe you could forget how to run that gun.

I can understand the responses made. At first I was at a loss for words as well.

Years ago,..I had the occasion/misfortune to run into a gentleman in the woods of northern Michigan who didn't know how to clear his hunting rifle. To make a long story short,...his BIL had loaded it for him down in Detroit,..and he brought it north fully loaded, ..eventually resulting in a 30/06 round going through the side of his truck.

Read the manual please,..and do check yourself out thoroughly on the operation of this,..and any other firearm you may have occasion to use,...BEFORE you take it afield.

I hate to say it but I'm going to.

Back away from the gun. Keep both hands in plain sight, palms open. At least until you've taken steps to familiarize yourself with safe operation of a firearm.

Pogo had a comment that's relevant here, too. "We have met the enemy, and..." :(

Pretty sure you shouldn't own the weapon if you don't know how to load it.

If its for home defense-The only threat right now would be you trying to work the gun.

I'd like to have a manual for my Win 140, is that available. I know how to use it, I just never had a manual.

The 1400 manual linked above in post #5 is the same as the one for your Model 140.

The 140 was just a plainer / cheaper version of the 1400.

I knew that and I copied the 1400, I was just wondering if they made one for the 140.
