So I am selling a machine gun & suppressor both on form 4s in AZ. The buyer is in Missouri and told me that his dealer told him that I have to transfer the MG & Suppresor to my dealer here in AZ, then my dealer transfers to his dealer in MO, then his dealer transfers to the buyer.

From everything I have read this is wrong and in fact his dealer just fills out 2 form 4s for both the gun and suppressor mails them to me and I fill the rest out and send them them in with the tax. Once the stamps get back I mail both the gun and stamps to his dealer, then his dealer does another transfer to the buyer.

I bought both the gun and suppressor on Form 4s in state with no dealer so this is all new to me and I want to get it done right.

You transfer to his dealer in MO, after MO dealer fill out forms, they are sent to you to complete. Return to Mo . Form with $ is then sent to atf. When transfer is oked, you ship to MO dealer. Dont forget to insure items as dealer may not. Then MO dealer transfers to new owner. This is my guess.

It is entirely possible that the buyers dealer refuses to accept transfers from nonlicensees.

If that's the case tell the buyer:
1. He needs to find a new dealer to receive the firearm.
2. The buyer needs to pay the additional tax stamps and any storage fees your dealer in AZ may charge.

I'm curious, what suppressor is worth $400 in tax stamps alone?:scrutiny:

I suppose that's what I'm going to have to do. I emailed his dealer and probably won't hear back until Monday. The suppressor is an older CAC9, which I told the buyer I didn't have to include in the deal, but he thinks it's worth paying 2 stamps on so more power to him.

OP is correct. That's how I bought my first machine gun. Seller out of state to my dealer to me. I second the opinion find a new dealer to work with.
