How do you keep spare mags organized?

I used to have mags just stacked on top of each other and they would fall over when I bumped them:fire:

I now use the Glade Ware disposable containers. I think they are the 24 oz size. They are big enough to hold 7 or 8 single stack .45acp. mags or several 15 round S&W 5906 mags ( depends on how you stack them in) I use a label maker to label them with what weapon they belong to. They are also stackable. I took one shelf full of mags and junk and changed it to 1/2 shelf. Made more room for guns.

AR mags are still stacked on each other in the back of the safe. I haven't looked for something to put them in yet.

I keep all mine loaded in ammo cans.

I have found that 15 .308 rifle mags fit in an ammo can, and 72 1911 mags, and 40 9mm CZ-75 mags, or 46 BHP mags. I haven't got enough officer's mags to figure that one out yet, but I'm guessing 80 or more. 25 more to go, and I'll let you know.
AR-15 mags are the problem, because they are too tall to fit the same way as M-14 mags/AR10 mags.
AR-15 mags will fit two rows of six side by side, and then four 20-rounds in the space left over. I have two ammo cans like that, and they don't rattle around too much.
All the mags, loaded, in ammo cans. Neat, easy, and I can go to the range with an ammo can and save my thumb for the safety.

My Wife Came Up With This One!

She bought me one of those shoe organizers that hang on the back of a door. They have a bunch of clear pockets that you can even label if you wish. They hold big and small magazines...That's my gal!!!:D

Pretty big difference between Bersa .380 magazines and Beretta 96 magazines, so they're all usually just sitting in an old .50 ammo box... :uhoh:

Whooooolllley Moooooooolllllley! Only 2 of the 29 posts mention keeping them in their gun safe.

First, I mark each mag with a soapstone pencil (commonly used by welders), so it is very distinguishable from others. It is easy to read white on black, even under low light. It does wear off, but only if you carry it in your pocket for a few days, but can easily be remarked. Under most range use conditions, you will not notice the markings fading. Stainless mags are marked with a black sharpie.

On the back of the top shelf of my gun safe, I made a cubbyhole box insert, using Untempered masonite, where the labeled mags are stored.

don't have enough space to spare in the safe to store even a good percentage of my mags inaddition to the guns...
