How do you keep your Aimpoint Comp M3?

I purchased an Aimpoint Comp M3 a few weeks ago and needless to say, I'm extremely happy. The only complaint that I have is that the first few clicks (4-5 depending on lighting conditions ) are NVG, meaning you can't see them with the naked eye.

Anyone keep their M3 with the knob turned just to the point to where the dot is visible for a bit more speed, or do you keep the scope completely off?


I've never had this problem with my Comp ML2...but then the ML2 is the non NVG compatable scope.

Since the battery life of an M3 is 50,000 hours (5+ Years) of operation at setting '7', why not "Set it and Forget it" like a Ronco Rotisserie Oven? That is the opinion of both Aimpoint and most people who run one in the military, as far as I know.


Unless I'm going to take a weeks vacation away from home, or am storing one of my RDS equipped firearms for an extended length of time the RDS just stays on. (This does not apply to an RDS where battery life is measured +/-10,000 hours, they only stay on if the are set for immediate use.)

Nice, 5 years of battery life, wow.And just store another set in the pg compartment, an extra 10 years life sitting there.

I have an Aimpoint M4 and I just leave it on the setting I normally use. Have not turned it off since I got it sighted in almost a year ago. Aimpoint claims almost 8 years out of a single AA battery for this model so I don't worry about it.

I leave mine off. Many use two white paint marks (one on knob one on scope) to quickly get them set before a a 3gun stage. My ACOG reflex is on day or night brightness is self adjusting and no swtiches or batteries to mess with or mess up.
