Hello all im new to this website. Anyhow my question is how would you losen the barrel from the frame of an 1860 Colt army revolver? I just purchased it a couple of weeks ago and would like to disassemble it. I took the wedge out with out any problems. However when I went to remove the barrel it was stuck on hard and would not budge from the frame. Does any one have any idea how I would go about solving this issue?

Place the hammer to half cock & then use the loading lever to assist the removal of the barrel by pushing the rammer onto the cylinder between the chambers.
You may need to use some penetrant into the area of the wedge to help loosen it up a little if it is still dificult.

Using the loading lever to push off the frame is the way it's done!
Sometimes you can pull the barrel off by hand, sometimes you can't; I've experienced both with different guns. When it's tight (as yours is) the loading lever is the way to go. The cylinder can stand it.

I suggest you use a piece of flat plastic placed between the rammer and the face of the cylinder to protect the chamber mouths from possible damage. I have used the handle from an old Oral B toothbrush and it has worked well for many years. It is just the right size to fit all my C&B revolvers. Cheap, too!
