How do you say FAL

It's just F...A....L...., just say the letters. FAL is a abbreviation for it's full name, something like Fusil Automatique Leger. Check out www.falfiles.com for everything and anything FAL.

I personally pronounce it as a word, even though it's an abbreviation. It sounds like the "fal" part of the wird infallible. Right or wrong, that's how I do it. Saying F A L is pretty clumsy for me and it usually comes out sounding like a french word.

I've always spelled out F-A-L, L-A-R, A-U-G, and A-K. A lot of people commonly say, "fal," and "lar," and "awg," but wouldn't it sound silly to say, "ack?"

I pronounce it as a word, just seems to roll of the tongue easier. I even call it a fin fal.

Lots of different ways, R-1, G-1, L1A1, St G-58, T-48, C-1, SLR, LAR...

Most countries where it is currentlty still being used seem to go by just fall, or effe-ah-elle.

I have never heard anyone say it as a word. I doubt I would know what the hell they were talking about until they explained.

If I'm just talking about the gun, I say eff-ay-ell, but if I'm talking about something like FALFILES.com, I say it like "fal" (rhymes with "pal").

I say AUG (first syllable of "auger")..

I use "F A L" and "Faal" (say it like "fowl" or "foul" with less "w") interchangably.

Fal rhyming with pal. A lot easier than spelling it out. People will know what you mean when you say Fal rather than F. A. L.

I always call it a fabrique nationale fusil automatique leger :D .

Kidding, I usuall say "fal" or "fen fal", don't think I've ever said Eff Ay Ell.

I've always said the three letters. That's the only way I've ever heard it said, and didn't know anyone did otherwise until I read this thread. The reason you say the letters is because originally it was FN FAL. How are you going to pronounce FN other than to say the letters?

PS, Notice that the prototype had a flash hider, but the version which was put out for military trials did not. Those of you who have FALs without flash hiders or suppressors, like myself, have them the way they were intended for military service.

As an English speaking American I simply pronounce each letter, F-A-L. This would be correct for an English speaker. The Belgians would say eff-eye-all.

To my ears saying FAL as in the name Al just sounds wrong.

When they showed them to us during my Army days (which to my knowledge was the first time I'd ever seen one) the instructor called it by the acronym "F.A.L."

That's good enough for me.

So, the answer is whichever way you want!
We cannot have anarchy. The very basis of civilization depends on everyone pronouncing it the same way. There need to be stiff penalties for pronouncing it fal, as in pal. We mustn't coddle these bohemians! Next thing you know, they will start calling the AK-47 the "ack" 47! :cuss:

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin'.

do you say 45 G-A-P or 45 Gap?

I say 45 A-C-P, but 45 Gap

45 ACP... Ackpa haha

Sorry

I say it as a word, because it's easier. I tend to make things easier when talking, some like to hear themselves spell things I guess.

Things that don't work as a word get spelled out. That's why everyone will call the SCAR "scar" as in car instead of "s - c - a - r". Well, I guess some of you will spell it, and the rest of us will have to suffer through the time it takes to listen to it.

Curious, do you guys that spell it out say scuba like this: "s - c - u - b - a"? I mean, it's not a word it's an acronym, right? :scrutiny:
