In what condition do you store your firearms?

Bolt open?

Slide locked back?

Slide closed, magazines out?

Magazines in place?

I have a small electronic combo safe in my closet bolted down to the concrete floor. My carbine is folded and unloaded and in the back of the safe. My pistol is also in there but at the front; its not made ready but it is loaded with a full mag.

Some are loaded and some are unloaded. Some of the loaded ones are cocked on a full chamber with the bolt closed while others are loaded and decocked on an empty chamber. The unloaded ones usually have the action closed and decocked, and the detachable magazines stored elsewhere to save on safe real estate.

Just depands on which weapon it is.

I store unloaded with action closed and a magazine inserted if it is a box mag (aka clip). There are only a couple loaded firearms and I always know exactly which ones they are. That does not stop me for checking them if they are loaded if I pick one up. SOP

Yep...just depends.

My AK and my Mini 14 are both loaded. (Mag full, nothing in the chamber) with a bright yellow sticky on the bottom that says "Loaded". AR mag is full, but not in the weapon. (Matter of space)

So is one of my .45's, as well as my .32 Seecamp and NAA .22 Mag. (Not marked)

I leave the bolts in my guns. Being compressed does not hurt springs, cycling does. Mags in place in autoloaders.

All are in the safe when they are not on my person.

The bottom of the lake where they all lay after the tragic boating accident.

You know I used to store with action open. Then after thinking about it a bit I decided to begin storing with the action closed. My reasoning is that with it closed nothing can get inside.

Like my friend Walkalong, ot just depends on the circumstances~! :uhoh:

Some are loaded, in particular my home 'D and carry weapons. This
includes 2x .45 ACP's, a Remy 12 gague Marine Magnum, and a S&W
642. My AR and Mini-14 are not loaded; but stand quard with full
magazines, ready to "Rock N' Roll"~!

Most of my guns are stored locked in a safe, unloaded, actions closed, magazines out and empty.

My house gun is stored in an easily accessed electronic safe. The cylinder is fully loaded with 6 rounds, and I have two speedloaders right next to it.

Revolvers are the ultimate in reliability for me.

For my M4 bolt forward magazine in and safety off. Chamber cleared.
My pistols one in the pipe mags installed.
All my guns are locked in a safe except for the one i carry.

I keep several loaded in different places around the house.

The others are cleaned and well oiled in my safe.

I have one loaded shotgun in the long gun safe, the rest of the long guns are unloaded with "fake" mags in them (disabled dummy mags). I have loaded rifle mags in another hidden location. I have several carry guns for different occasions, they are stored loaded in a bolted-down pistol safe as I swap them out on a regular basis.
All loaded guns that go in the safe are pointed in a safe direction in case of a fire (usually pointed at the floor with the mag removed). I don't remove the chambered round on these to prevent over-seating the bullet from excessive chambering.
Target pistols are stored unloaded with closed action and no mag in the well.

My safe is an unloaded gun zone!

All firearms in my main safe are unloaded at all times with actions closed magazines removed. My CCW's remains on my person at all times and is placed into the bed side safe at night. The small bed side safe is the only place i have loaded weapons inside the house. It seems impracticable to have loaded firearms in the safe. I don't have a new fangled electronic lock on my main safe, so it takes about 15-20 seconds to input the combination at best.

Bolts and actions open (save for break opens) in my special built gun closet. Much easier to visibly see quickly if they are loaded or not. Ammo placed on shelves below firearms for quick access should the need arise.

I keep a machete next to the bed just in case the dog doesn't notice an intruder....

depends on the firearm for me too. I keep my daily carry guns loaded all the time, I keep the rifles unloaded and in gun socks sitting in my safe. I keep dummy rounds in the chambers of all guns being stored for extended periods of time, mags always out.

Mags are empty and bolts are closed on empty chambers except my HD rifle.

My HD weapon (M-1 Carbine) has two loaded mags, no rounds chambered on a closed bolt, safety off.

I try telling people this. Storing compressed doesn't hurt the springs, cycling does.

Keep em all unloaded when locked up, except I keep the revolver in the nightstand loaded. When you go to condition red, its helluva a lot better to be ready than to spend time trying to load the gun when seconds count. IMO.

A few handguns loaded and ready to go either under the bed or in the headstand. A double-barrel 12 in the closet corner with rounds on the shelf right next to it. An AR in the case - but I have one mag with 10 rounds loaded in it in there with it for fairly quick action. This would NOT be my preferred home defense gun though - that's why it's in the case. Home defense is for 12 guage first - handguns second....
The rest of my stuff is mostly in cases. I need to build a locked gun room - but haven't come up with the right spot or the $$ yet.....:eek::(

Handguns: Full mag, one in chamber.

HD Shotgun: Full mag, one in chamber.

Hunting/plinking arms: Fully assembled, unloaded.

I assumed you were asking about the condition in which they were stored, as opposed to details of where in the house they were. No details, but even handguns kept in the safe stay loaded. I figure if all guns are always loaded, then all guns might as well be loaded. Easier to treat them that way.

actions closed, decocked, mags out, clean with light coat of oil, throw in a couple or dessicant packs, and hide them were nobody will ever find them, even with a metal detector.

The ammo is sealed in seal-a-meal bags and sprinkled with cayenne pepper.
