I'm looking to get my fiance a smaller gun. She carries a Bersa UC40 now, she usually carries it in her purse (I don't like it, but it's better than not carrying). It is a little heavy and we're looking for something lighter/smaller. Does your wife, gf, or significant other purse carry, pocket carry, etc? Just trying to get a few ideas. I'm looking at everything from the Kel-Tec .380s to the Kahr CW9. She's kind of a jeans and t-shirt type of girl (but she scrubs up nice:D) Thanks for any suggestions

Purse and Ankle.
In her purse a Beretta model 70, chambered in .32 and on her ankle a Baby Browning.

In Jeans and T-Shirt, given the T-Shirt is baggy concealing wouldn't be entirely too hard ... if she wears the belly free t-shirts like mine, well. That's a bit harder to conceal with.

Mainly uh ... let her play around with concealing. Women have different concealed carry needs than us, cause they have those awesome things called curves.

I didn't quite know how to describe them, but belly-free t-shirts fit the description.

My wife has a bersa thunder 380, she used to carry it in her purse but it was too heavy, She now carries a Ruger LCP in her purse and the Bersa sits on her night stand.

I've been talking about this with my wife lately as we will both have our carry permits soon. I've been discouraging purse carry. I just think that it lays around too much and isn't under constant supervision, and as such could be a liability. Also the purse is the first thing a BG is going to be interested in. We're still working out what and how she will be most comfortable carrying. I'll be watching here for how others are doing it!

Nushif's right: let her work out the concealment aspect.

Your girlfriend is carrying a .40 S&W pistol that weighs 23 ounces. That's a pretty reasonable weight for that cartridge. You need to be careful about weight: in a handgun it can be your friend. Tiny pistols with itty-bitty grips can be unpleasant to shoot - meaning it won't get shot enough to become proficient with it. Trading weight for survival is seldom a good choice.

Wells said TexasBill. I'm really trying to find a CCW that she can carry on her person, and not in the purse. that's better than nothing, but if a BG gets her purse, she's unarmed. Seems to scarier to me than it is to her.
