I recently purchased the xd9 (wanted to know what the hype was about) and im curious to know how durable are they. I own a Glock 23 (my nightstand gun) which i know is very durable and very reliable. It's been through alot of abuse and it shoots everytime i pull the trigger. It's a no non-sense type of weapon. Can my nib xd9 be as durable and reliable?

XD Torture Test

I think reading that article should probably ease your mind a little bit. :)

Oh, and welcome in advance to the ever-growing family of XD lovers and former Glock owners.
(sorry, Mods - I can't resist a little poke at the glockenspielers every once in awhile) ;)

Thanks

I appreciate that. Now, all i have to do is wait 4 more hrs to get off work and go straight to the range to try it out. If everything goes well, i may add another XD to my collection.

Here's a very very stupid question about the XD, forgive me for asking this.. In order to re-assemble the XD (after cleaning) all i need to do is insert, pull the slide back and hold by using the slide stop and do the counter clock thing with the lever and whala correct? I just want to make sure i did correct and that theres a special way to put it back

Sounds to me like you got it right. It's an amazingly easy weapon to field strip and reassemble. If you hadn't done it right, I think you'd know it.

You won't be disappointed in the XD, any of them for that matter. But then again, I'm clearly biased.

Yep. Don't EVER turn the disassembly lever, then put the slide on. Make sure it's in the upward position before you install the slide or you'll be sending it back to Springfield.

...

What would have happened if i did.. actually, i did do that but didnt put too much pressure, i realized that the lever wasn't upright then i corrected my mistake. How would i know if i did do some sort of damage to it?
