Yup, depends on the gun and the loads. I have a Tokarev that throws rounds everywhere from 11:00 to 9:00, some fall at my feet, some go 15 feet or more. My BHP, 226, and 92 throw brass pretty consistantly at 4:00 in small circles. How far they go depends on how powerful the round is, hotter loads throw cases farther. My 1911's and XD45 are also consistant throwers. The XD does toss the last round differently, usually right over the top of my head.
The winner is my P-64 which throws brass hard enough to measure them in foot pounds of energy with a chronograph. They go 60+ feet at 3:00, (even more on smooth concrete) and could draw blood if one cracked you in the side of the head at the pistol range.
The above are some of the reasons that I as a reloader like revolvers too.
