I have a hill on my hunting land that would make a great place to teach the grandkids to shoot clay targets. Can anyone guess how far shot might travel before falling to earth? What would be safe? There are woods I do not own apx 200 yards from the hill. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tim

In the Nov 2007 issue of Field and Stream there was an article about bobby knight hitting some people with shot and getting shot in somebodies pool while he was dove hunting. At the bottom of the page there was a little blurb about knowing the balistics of your shot and I think that it said that 7 1/2 shot at a 20 or 30 degree angle will go something like 110 yards. That seems a little bit short to me but I guess my wads go about that far where I shoot.

The approximate maximum range in yards of lead shot is d x 2200, with d = diameter in inches. (Muzzle @ 30 degrees for maximum range)

So, basically, The angle of the dangle is perversely proportioned to the heat of the meat?? Sorry, I failed Math....:D
