How good are Turkish made 1911's?

I had a Regent that I liked for what it was. I traded it toward a more gussied up Springfield, but they both work about the same.

I didn't really like steel cased Tula hardball for some reason, but that stuff choked my RIA as well. Only my Glock 21 and now the Springfield digested it with on issues.

For a basic 1911, it felt well built. The fit seemed tighter than my RIA too. No complaints other than I wanted to upgrade to something a little nicer.
 
Had a Regent as well. Great shooter, very accurate. The extractor wore out really fast, but a new one from Wilson worked perfectly.
 
I had a relatively customized Ruger 10/22 [Clerke bull barrel threaded 1/2x28, volquartsen trigger, raptor stock, cheap scope, etc] that I could have traded a guy at last week's gunshow. Too late now. Just wondering if it would have been a good pistol to have [though I don't have any other .45acp pistols].
 
Well if you look at Buds, "like most do", you know that they stand behind the Turkish guns. I believe all have Lifetime warrantees and they are very reasonable. There haven't been a lot of negative things said on forums about them. I would say that for an inexpensive gun, they more than suffice. Plus it's good to have the competition to try and keep prices from skyrocketing as some have been on 1911's the past few years.
There are many brands over the thousand dollar range that don't really offer anything standard for the money.
I don't mind the price as much as leaving out the little things, like checkering the strap on a fifteen hundred dollar gun. Or having to pay another hundred for night sights on a gun that just cost you 13-2000 dollars.
 
They are a primary source of maker for the custom guns here - some big name vendors have the Turks roll mark their name on them, they add their custom touches, and then pocket the profit from the reduced costs.

Basically you pay for the Brand and some iconic checkering. Underneath, it's all Turk. So, that tells you they are pretty good.

NOT something you will read much about in an in depth mag article praising their custom virture.
 
The Turks are making some good guns.

I hang around at the local gun store a lot and see a number of Turkish guns come through there. Most look good

Personally I have four Turkish ATI C92 pistols. They are Beretta 92 Compact copies.
I like my Berettas but I think these Turkish guns are almost Beretta's equivalent.

I also have three ATI MS380 pistols. The copy of the Beretta 84.
Also excellent guns compared to my Beretta 84.

I don't know about the 1911.
 
I have a Girsan 1911, the "sport" model with the light rail and some other nice features. It's a good gun - fit was on par with RIA and the other Philippine guns, but the finish on the Girsan is nicer. It's been a good shooter though I think I'm going to move it on to explore some other projects.
 
The Turks have always made very good guns. I've never owned a 1911 made by them but I've owned many other Turkish made guns and I've always been impressed with the quality of them for the money.
 
Guess I should have traded with the guy. Oh well. Can't do anything about it now.

Okay. Maybe I am saying exactly that.
 
I have a Tisas 1911 and it's an excellent gun. Good fit and finish. Eats steel cased ammo fine.
Have had no issues at all with it and would recommend it.

Got any proof? I'd love for you to post the source of that info.
 
I bought a Regent Commander 1911 about 1 year ago. I have about 2000 rounds through it. I have shot HP, FMJ, steel case and range schwag with no malfunctions. I like mine and I do CCW this from time to time.
It is not a Colt but it is reliable.
Just my opinion

I have a Regent and it's as reliable as anything.
As I've said before though, my Colt is decidedly nicer.
 
For hickok45 they are bargain pistols: check the video. He reviewed a Tisas, if i remember well.

Gun Trades with shops rarely give you any real value...
it is far better to sell outright a custom 1022 and use the proceeds to buy something else.
