The Regent R100 is a solid buy. Mine has been perfectly reliable and sufficiently accurate for my purposes.

Quality-wise, I would put them above Filipinos but below Springfield or Remington.

I bought one of the TİSAŞ(Regent) basic 1911s when they first popped up in my area a couple years ago. Don't think I paid more than $380 for it, but it was a good solid entry level 1911. Bought more with the intent to use as a host for my .22 conversion kit than anything else though.

Eventually sold it because they cut their grip front-strap with less of a radius than I'm used to on my 1911s. :scrutiny:

I'd much sooner buy an RIA with its proven track record and customer service. That said, I've learned life is too short for cheap 1911s.

Thr front of the grip strap is thicker making for a longer front to back grip. The slide to frame fit became a rattle can in 300rds. I was able to peen tight so it's officially a beater 1911 now. I'd go with a Armscor/RIA 1911 between the two. The Armscor/RIA 1911s I've owned are tight and well built for the price.

My Regent has been a great shooter. Sadly it doesnt digest cheap Tula ammo like my glock. No biggie, just was a really cheap way to plink. My mag release is also stiff and needs a good buff.
All around, for a $400 1911 I'm happy.
