really easy!

not my idea, but here goes:

disassembled rifle.

washed stock in bathtub with dishwashing deterget, nylon scrub, and really hot water. did it REALLY fast as i didn't want water to sink into wood, just into grease.

took the top from a 50-gal plastic tub and put tin foil all over it. covered tin foil in cheapie terry car towels (7.99 for 25) from target and placed it in direct sunlight in a locked walled and gated patio (with my dog stalin watching over it). placed the bare stock, gooey mess and all, on top of the towels. patted the dog, locked the door, set the alarm, went to target again.

bought a 25lb bag of the cheapie target brand kitty litter. no chemicals, just clay pieces and a few specks of deodorant.

got home. poured kitty litter all over stock, including inside, packed it in, stock up right (as if it were in a bench rest) with kitty litter packed in inside.

patted dog. went back inside.

at around 4pm i went outside. stock had been out for 8 hours in very hot california sun. (today it rained cats and dogs, so do this in hotter weather)

shook kitty litter out of stock. picked out remaining pieces with brushes and then slapped it a couple times with hand.

finished cleaning stock with towels, rubbing really hard, and then i think i might have used some simple green moist towelettes.

done.

pretty easy imho, and i fired 300 rounds through the gun yesterday with no cosmo bleeding.

hey man, i'm in Sherman Oaks...LOL.

sounds good, whatever works to get it out. When I got my M59, I removed the action from the stock and actually took the stock with me in the shower :D

Since someone else admitted it first, I took a Spanish Mauser stock in the shower with me with a scotch brite pad and Murphy's Oil Soap. Looked great afterwards and didnt mess up the house.
