How important are rifle sights on a home defense shotgun?

Another energy vs hole thing? A shotgun slug packs 2500 ft lbs or some such, more'n enough to cause pressure wave and tissue and nerve damage well away from the path of the projectile. But, I swear, I'm not going into all this again.

Yes, I agree, an exit hole is preferred, but not through three bodies and fifteen walls of an apartment complex. The slug is over-penetrative. I load with buck for HD, personally. I don't think you'll survive long with a charge of buck in your torso and you won't endanger your neighbors as badly if you use it instead of slugs. I don't know about your house, but in mine, I doubt that shot charge out of my cylinder bore would be much bigger around than a slug when it hits. It's a 1000 sq ft two bedroom, not one of Trump's or John Edwards' mansions. It's only 14 feet from the back wall of my bedroom to the door and I'd be shooting from the bed in all likelihood. See, this is how John Edwards' "other America" (that he knows nothing about) lives. :D </politics> If I gotta get up to investigate, I'll be carrying a revolver.

I have 'rifle' sights on the short barrel for my Mossy 500, but only because I use it with slugs for hunting.
