I just put my order in for a service grade springfield garand! needless to say i cant wait to get my hands on it. to those who have done business with cmp before, how long should i expect to wait? how quick did they process your order and stuff like that? I know i am gettin a bit antsy, I just really want to get that garand!

For me, it was right at 60 days from mailing the form to having my HRA service grade in my hands (mail went out 06Dec07, rec'd rifle 04Feb08).

Check out the forums over at the CMP website. A lot of folks have posted detailed timelines on their own order process (i.e. timepoints at which email rec'd, order status changes, etc.). You can trak your own order status via the e-store. Just sign in with tthe e-mail address you listed on your order form.

Yup, I'd say right at about 56 days for me. The hardest part for me was waiting the 21 days after getting the email that says "leave us alone for 21 days. :) I do have to say that on Day 21 (after the email) the order appeared in the online store and within a day or so there was a Fedex tracking #.

My best advice is to buy a good Garand book to get you through the next few weeks. :)

Hmmm. Took me about 3 hours looking through the 100 or so on the floor. :) As you all indicate in the posts, wow, it takes some time. Also, you get "luck of the draw". The CMP is about 150 or so miles from me, and so I just drive there. More important, the reason I drive there is because of answers such as in this thread: it can take considerable time for the requested rifle to arrive.

IIRC, about 3 - 3½ weeks for my Danish. After buying that, about 1 - 1½ weeks for those CMP refurbished Garands. (That is, shipment times, at least for me, seems to decrease once you're in their system.)

Longer than anyone can tolerate... ;) Trust me, I know.

First one took 30 minutes (I was at the Anniston, AL store), and the second one took 58 days (mailed Feb 1st).

It varies depending on how busy they are. They've had a couple of special carbine sales that just overwhelmed them, and caused all other orders to drag a bit.

I placed my order in late February, and it was filled in early April, right after they cleared up all the carbine orders from January 10. Then things moved quickly for a while, until another special carbine sale flooded them with orders.

On the CMP forum (which you should start reading) I saw a posting from a guy who got his rifle in 13 days!

So it varies.

Seems i jumped the gun a bit, CMP has not recieved my membership from the GCA yet. oops. oh well, i'll just have to fax em a copy of my card.

I wasn't too particular, I got a service grade in about 1hr. Of course I live pretty close to it. :):)

On your GCA application, you can check the box that says "notify the CMP of my membership". CMP will check the GCA database, and everything is simplified and goes right through.

You should probably start checking your e-store account hourly, and watching out your front window for the Fed Ex truck. Just to be safe.

my Garand from 2 yrs ago took around 30 days fro mthe time I sent the order to the time it showed up, i beleive. My CMP M1 carbine a few months ago was about the same, maybe a little quicker even. No complaints for the price, and for what I got with both orders, thats for sure. I'd gladly waith a few months if needed to get great historic guns, cheap, from CMP (but I'm glad I didnt have to wait that long, I'm worse than a 3yo kid on christams eve when it comes to stuff I order.)

About 45 days if I remember correctly. I was quite pleased with the turn around and condition.

I must have lucked out, I think it only took two weeks. I placed the order this past April 4th or so and got in on the 22nd. I must have placed the order at a slow time or something. It was a service grade Springfield manufactured in Aug. '44.

PS: The foot came seperately

47 days from mailing order to delivery of rifles... ordered a service grade HRA and a rack grade NPM carbine the day after they were released for sale. Both rifles came at the same time.

Very pleased.
