Obviously I'm new to all this, seeing as how this past Saturday was only the 2nd USPSA match I've ever shot, and the first one was close to two years ago, But. How long Should it take for the match results to be posted.

Apparently, and I have no idea if this is normal or not, my local club does not announce/reveal/how ever you wish to term it results the day of the match and instead uploads them to the section website. I was told Saturday that they should be up by Tuesday evening. Now I know that it's only been 24 hours past the expected posting time, and I may be perceived as impatient, but 4 days Just to find out if I did as well/bad as I think I did is starting to make me slightly twitchy.

So am I off base and being overly impatient, or is this unusual?

many hands make for light work

This is not obvious to newcomers, but it literally takes club volunteers days to design, plan and put together a multi-stage match. They also work on match day by registering shooters, officiating, etc.... Finally there's tear down and score tabulating.

As a result volunteers are always welcomed but often in short supply.

btw, helping set up stages a few days before the match is a great way to increase your understanding of the game. It is also a great way to reduce the burden on the guys and gals who always do the work and who sometimes feel burnt out. In exchange, you get to work a half-day alongside some nice people. Ask your Match Director.

Once the results are posted, let us know how you did and what you learned from the experience.

Where are you looking?

You can log into USPSA and sign up for email alerts; then they will email any time scores are uploaded for you. You will have to be a uspsa member for this to work.

Where are you looking?

in the "TSS Clubs and scores" section of the Texas south section website, and in the Match results portion of USPSA.org. both places by selecting my local club from the available pull-down window.

no results for my club on the TSS site since march (april match cancelled), and there is only a single results entry for the club available through USPSA.org

and i'm opted in for receiving local match results at USPSA.org

When you shot the match did you ask any of the match staff members how to get your match results?

Start with your match staff.

Yes, I was told to check the Texas South Section site and that the scores would be posted by Tuesday.

If they use electronic scoring the results will be ready about 5 min after the last shot is fired. If the MD has you do it himself by hand, after setting up the match 24 hours is quite reasonable.

If you want to know the results faster you might ask the fellow that does it if he needs any help next time.

A week is a good time frame IMO. After that I get a little impatient but I don't complain until it's been at least twice as long. The guy doing the scores isn't exactly getting rich off of it.

Well it seems, if I'm reading them correctly, that I finished 20th overall and 1st in single stack. But I have to add that this is likely because there were only three of us in SS, and the actual experienced shooter somehow took 0-pts on the third stage.

Major thing I learned I that I really do like this sport so far.
2nd would be to make sure I get my self Between the fault lines before firing a shot.
the last stage required that you start with an empty gun, all ammo stacked on one or both of two barrels, walls/barricades divided up the target arrays and the fault lines. I rounded the first barrel scooping up a mag, had a failure to feed, cleared that, engaged the first target... THEN realized i'd stopped about two steps short of the rear of the box.
A quick browse through the results seems to indicate that close to half the shooters took at least one shot from out side the box on this stage

Cool.

You could look up and compare your HF (Hit Factor) for each stage to that of other shooters in all divisions. HF is a measure of how many points you scored per second of elapsed time. You'll know you are being more effective in your use of time when your hit factors start creeping up.

Another way to measure progress is to keep track of how many Procedural Penalties you accumulate, such as people did when they shot from outside the box.

Who did you shoot with?

Did you shoot at Pacleb Ranch today?

Greenwood Practical Pistols.

And no.

Unfortunately the only way I can currently get a Saturday or Sunday off is to submit a request at least a month in advance and the odds of getting More than one in a given month are close to Nil. So for the time being I have limited myself to the various matches, USPSA and otherwise, available at Greenwood Gun Club (Of which I am a member).

^ would have liked to shoot that one, but I was out of the country for business.
