How lubed for 1911?

I just use whatever decent gun oil I have at the time. When I used to shoot a lot, I would get a little lazy on cleaning, and would often shoot 1000 rounds or better before cleaning. The looser the gun, the longer I could go, just keep it a wetted down with a little oil, wipe off the excess, with a few drops in all of the right places.

My Wilson Combat is my tightest , best fitted gun, and it will go 500 rounds easy between cleanings, which is about the upper limit Bill Wilson even states for one of his guns, between cleanings. These numbers may seem excessive, but an active combat competitor will often burn up a 500 rounds or more a week, some even shoot a lot more then that. However, a carry gun should probably not be allowed to go that long, between cleanings, but even on those, 200 to 300 rounds is not unusual for me, between cleanings, it depends on the gun, and the time span involved.
