How mall ninja-ee can you get?

I submitted Wilson Polytac because I'll always take a free gun. But I thought it should have been the BWWTF? BW standing for Bill Wilson and you get the rest.

Seriously I don't know what they are smoking in Berryville these days....

I was really disappointed by the name they chose, as well. Just seems really cheesy. I was expecting something a little better. I submitted the name "Fuse" because I felt the gun was a combination of old (1911) and new (polymer). Plus, the name has several different meanings, many weapons/firearms related. I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but the name they chose just sucks.

The name they chose is obviously a reflection of the target audience they are seeking (as the entire thing is a marketing ploy). They already have the 1911 audience captive, so they weren't trying to win our favor... they are looking at the younger, tacticool crowd who turns their noses up at the thought of a 100 year old design. What's the best way to bait them in? The name says it all.

Last, +5 points to the company for offering a free gun for naming it. If anyone of us would have won it, I'm SURE we would have paid the transfer fee (it's still ugly.) :)

They did name another pistol the "Advanced Design Pistol", btw, has anyone ever shot, or even seen one of those?

That name really is mall ninja fodder.

What can I say 'bout both the name and the look that hasn't been covered?

I guess even Sammy Sosa or Mark McGuire strike out from time to time as well...

I don't mind the gun's looks so much.

But the name choice does scream "hackneyed". I don't blame the winner, but rather Wilson. I picture their marketing department as something right out of The Office. I am dumbfounded that this is the best they could come up with.

Why not just go with something even more to the point, such as "Toughguy 2000."

Or better yet, "The Walter Mitty Signature Series."

all things being equal im a mall ninja of sorts (see sig if you dont believe) but even i wouldnt own that polymer garbage
the 1911 is sacred and deserves METAL not tupperware
dont get me wrong i like glocks and XDs but that thing is just rediculous

For the price tag, Wilson built High Power clones would have done the same thing and been quite a bit nicer. It even has a stepped down slide like a High Power . . .

Man..what a dumb name. Special Ops would have been slightly better, but even then it's almost a rip-off of the EB "Special Forces."

They could have done better. Choosing a better name alone could have made the pistol more successful. Spec-Ops? Seriously?

I don't even SEE a rail in the pic, how can it be "spec ops?"

Spendy and doesn't Para already make something like that?

WOW! Just WOW! I can't believe I spent a single minute on trying to come up with a semi-clever name that pertained to the 1911 having a polymer frame.

But Spec-Ops?! No special operation forces are going to adopt that overpriced thing into their armories. For Wilson Combat's lack of creativity, I starting a personal boycott. You can say that sounds stupid...but it doesn't touch the stupidy of WC's nomenclature.

It is a nice looking gun, not 2000$ nice, but nice.

I'm going to throw this out for those who may not remember but "Spec Ops' was Gecko45's foil in the "Mall Ninja" threads so , yeah this is kind ninjy

No doubt a few blind tasteless noobarbies will buy THE THING. Hey, now that I think of it didn't it star in a film of the same name. Or was it Malice In Tupperland? Unbelievable.

I submitted "Dark Knight" as my choice for a name.

I like the gun all but the grip pattern.

I don't know why some of the 1911 guys are whinning about a polymer 1911.

While some might not agree, there is a market for this.

There are plenty of companies still making the old heavy steel versions.

I like the looks of it, but hey I like Glocks too ;-)

Name is kind of corny. Price is waaay to high.

I wonder if there's any chance the guy who submitted the name was poking fun in a roundabout way, and Wilson's marketing people didn't see that they were being had.
Kind of like when staunch republicans laugh at Stephen Colbert?

I know it's a gun and CQBs are great... but it sure is hard to take that one seriously.

And they underline the "9" too, like someone would look upside down, "HEY! NICE 6... wait a minute... is that Russian?"

pretty special all right

Mall-Ninja? I say Nay!....

I looked over the custom 9mmNATO pistol. It looks sweet. ;)

Wilson Combat firearms are not cheap and wouldn't look at them as "mall ninja" type weapons. Now if it had a fixed bayonet(that I've seen recently,) or maybe a bunch of lasers or white lights, then I'd say you'd have a point.

RS

I mean, c'mon, I was expecting a little more creativity out of a name contest.

Well, I thought I was creative but they rejected my idea -

"The Crap9" ;)

And I really wanted to win, because I need a new boat anchor.

I wanted "Wondernine", thought it would be funny.

Actually, now that would have been a very good, clever name. But i don't think enough people would have "gotten" it.
