The "mall ninja" concept ?

Hi there.

i've been reading through this very interesting forum for many days now, and the "mall ninja" concept appeared many times, and in many threads.

Though I may have an approximative idea of the meaning of it, would someone be kind enough to explain me what does this "mall ninja" expression exactly mean ?

I'm trying to get another gun culture than mine, and this certainly would help !

Oh it was clearly always just a gag.

But it was all very funny.

Problem is there were a few others that piled on that didn't get it was a gag, they were actually serious. Those were the guys that scared me

Oh when it was actually happening there were plenty of threads discussing whether or not it was real etc.

It was pretty funny at the time.

I always thought there were lots of copy cats so I don't know if this web page here claiming to be him is real. There were LOTS of Gecko45's on gun boards and lots of postings. I think it was more than one person but who knows.

Some guy even has a myspace page claiming to be him, but who knows.

And don't confuse Gecko45 with Gunkid. Gunkid was a seriously messed up guy who wound up in prison.

Whew! And here I'd been believing that I was the only guy who thought Gecko45 was just a gag!

As for "Mall Ninja," let me explain. Ninjas are cool. They rock and have Real Ultimate Power and will sometimes flip out and kill people. They also fight pirates (and, in my opinion, would win every time). Therefore, many suburban kids with delusions of grandeur seek to emulate them. They could emulate Rambo or Bruce Lee, but that would mean getting in shape. Ninjas wear all black and are often thin, rather than bursting with muscles. Instead of at a dojo or a gym, these kids hang out at the mall or the game & hobby store playing Counter-Strike.

They dress in black, wear drop-holsters without body armor, want the USP because they know it beats the heck out of a 1911 or an XD because it's what our Elite Spec-Ops Teams use (being high-speed and low-drag), and are prone to flights of fancy that involve them being like John McClane (if he weren't such a pansy, that is).

when I read that, I already got a prceise idea of the concept :
