How many 308 rounds will fit in 50 cal ammo can?

Building inventory and have lots of 50 cal ammo cans. How many 308 rounds will fit.

The U.S. Military packs 420 rounds in 5 round stripper clips and bandoleers in a std .50 cal ammo can. If you're packing with 20 round boxes, it will be less.

I have a .50 cal ammo can filled with 640 rounds of 90's production Indian 7.62 NATO. It is not on strippers but in bags of 10 each. Fills the can to capacity.

I can get 28 twenty round boxes of South African 7.60 (4 battle pack) in a .50 Cal can.

ETA: not loose- still in the boxes.

In 20 rd boxes you can get 460 308s in a 50 cal can.
Loose with one up and the next down with short bullets, two layers upright and others sideways at the top you can get nearly 800 in a can, heavy.
