How many different kinds of powder do you have?

How many different kinds of powder do you have? The reason I ask is because I was in the man cave aka our living room the other day and the little lady comes in and seeing that Id cleaned the Armory/bench up and lined up my powder she counted it up and said "Do you really use all of those kinds of powder? I said yes I do she said "don't you have enough of it." Thats when I started looking and noted I have 10 different kinds of powder. I replied don't you have enough shoes she glared at me then left. So....... I call that one a win Also each kind is different like I have IMR 4350 and IMR 4320 not just well IMR is 1 powder and Hodgen is 1 powder.

I have 8, ATM. Now, there are a few I'm not too eager to replace, once they run out. But by then, I'm sure I'll have a few new ones to play with.

Yeah we have a small place and my stuff kinda ended up in the living room so I claimed it now the bedroom on the other hand ........... she owns and is pink .

26 powders counting H variants of IMR powders. Everything from blue dot for 9mm to H1000 for heavy magnum bullets.

That's why my reloading, gun building, and cleaning is done in the shop. If my little lady knew how much powder, primers, and bullets I keep on hand, or how much I spend on gun related things she would use one of my guns on me! I only have 5 different powders, but all five are 8lb kegs. I also have well over 20,000 primers stored, and 6-7k bullets. My wife only comes out to my shop maybe once a year. She says it's my hide away!!

21 powders on the bench and I have some American Select in the mail. Though I have not yet used Herco or IMR 4227. The can of H4831 is being phased out for IMR 4831, and the IMR 7828 may not get used again.

I use:
one powder for handgun (W231 for 9mm,40S&W, 45ACP)
one powder for rifle (AA2015 for .223 and 7.62x39)


All I want is a reliable, safe, consistent load. Its not really a hobby for me so much as a necessity. I really could not afford to shoot as much as I do if I didn't reload. I try to keep it simple with as low overhead as possible. I'm strongly considering swapping all of my 45ACP large primer brass when I use up my large primers so as to not have to stock large primers. We all get into reloading for different reasons, and I'm making it work for me.

Right now I load four handgun calibers (.44 magnum, .357 magnum, .45acp, and .38 spl). I use W231 for all of 'em. All I load is target ammo and it works fine.

About 30 powders, maybe more. Some are in out building. I can remember 21 calibers that get loaded on a somewhat regular basis. Anything from a gnats sneeze to a stump blaster is possible.

Just 5; W231 for pistol rounds (9mm and 45 ACP), H322 for 223 Rem., 6.5 Grendel, 6.5x55 and 6.8 SPC; IMR 4064 for 30-30 and 308; H110 for 30 Carbine; and H1000 for 300 Win. Mag.

I used to minimize the number of powders but when I got into rifle, it just was not going to happen. There is always one better than another for a particular rifle. Then it reverses for a different rifle.

Me: Yeah but this one is different.
Her: How different?
Me: Different caliber, different magazines, different brass, different bullet.
Her: So that means you bought new dies, brass, bullets, and all the rest, right?

I've been culling the herd, down to about 12 different powders now. Just traded off some Norma MRP and some H205 for some IMR4895.

• Stick
• Ball
• Flake

But the different bottles with all the names and numbers on them do take up a lot of space in the closets.

I guess just three - must be doing something wrong Universal for pistol and shot shell, H4895 for rifle and Goex 3f for my percussion revolver.

Pushed the 15 or more button. I will buy at least one pound of anything never had to load up what packager says it is best for. Found some good ones this way and have a.bunch of 3/4 full cans of powder that I will never use again. May take it all, pour it in a barrel and make a custom blend or a really big fireball in the back yard. Can't seem to part with it in the event of desperate times.

I have seven and I use four. I use one of those for one specific load. The other three are the ones I use for everything. The three I don't use are ones I bought to eventually try. Still haven't found a need to use them.

Diff powders seem to add up fast. Having mult types helps during scares too. Say u reload 3 calibers that could use the same powder even if not ideally, by trying to find one for each you'll have more on hand to sub with if one gets hard to find.

just one, HP38. works real well for 380, 38, and 45 and good enough for me for loading 357 mag. to be honest, I just shoot plated 357's every once in a while to clear out a little bit of lead here and there. plus its fun making noise! one of these days when people arent all coo coo, I will buy myself me a can of win296 and some fmj 357 bullets to roll up some toasty ones.

hmm, I started reloading a little while ago, and I'm in the process of finding what works for me, so I have a lot of different 1lb jugs for experimenting.
