How many gun shops in your Area?

Let's see:

The Gun Broker
Kieth's Guns
Alison & Carey
The gun Room :barf:
and farther away, but my favorite, The Powderhorn

Big-box:
Sportsman's Warehouse
WallyWorld
Big 5
GI Joe's

Lets see, in a city of 800,000 (thats actually more like 1.2 million if you count the illegals), we have 28 including pawn shops. Also, add 3 more for Wal-Marts and a couple more for K-Marts.

Less all the time, it seems. Heritage Firearms vanished a few years back, so did most of the pawn shops that sold used. Only one pawn shop I can find in Manchester that does, and they're only open 9-4 weekdays, period. (which is useless for anyone who, say, WORKS!)...

Otherwise, there's:

Affordeable Firearms, Pelham :D - looks like a gun show collided with a WWII arsenal and museum of strange and old ammo, good deals. Fun place to dig through. GREAT prices on new S&B in hard-to-find calibers like 7.62x25, Mak, .25ACP...

Riley's Guns, Hooksett - Always busy, lots of staff, prices are eh on guns, but they get some odd stuff, the place is big and clean and has good deals on ammo that it's hard to get most places. (Gold Dot +P and 9mm +P short barrel, Hornady TAP older and better stuff). Good prices on accessories. Also, all the ammo is out on the floor on shelves (not behind the counter), so you're free to open boxes and compare rounds.

Pete's Guns & Tackle, Hudson - Overpriced used Glocks, some interesting old rifles and shotguns if you're into that, but most things old stock covered with dust and you have to try to look into the cases past the seemingly same group of very large, elder 'commando' sorts in there every day sitting, BSing and eating fast food.

Sportsman's Trading Co, Amherst - :barf: Who wants overpriced guns PUSHED on them by a PUSHY, loud, used-car-salesman owner? Friendly black lab wandering around is a redeeming feature, but the owner's attitude is a total turnoff. The owner could take a lesson from the dog.

We have maybe 3 or 4 dedicated gun shops in the area. There are, however, many pawn shops and retail outlets that carry guns including Bass Pro shop, Academy Sports and Wal-Mart.

Houston Texas is the 4th largest city in the U.S. , but I still cant find a decent gun shop. Everyone here is way overpriced and they dont have a good selection.

I used to live in Massachusetts and there were better shops there....need I say more? When someone in Houston realizes that Houston can support a volume style gun shop while making a killing, they will be multi millionaires.....til then I guess I have to order through an ffl.

Not including pawnshops I can think of 7 without putting a whole lot of thought about it

There used to be quite a few of those high volume gun/sporting goods stores, one was a place called Sporting Goods Inc. Image a gun/fishing store about the size of Academy with only hunting and fishing equipment. The gun counters alone occuppied two walls.

If they did not have it the manufacturers did not make it or the gunsmiths in the back could modify it for you. Unfortunately it was in a part of town "in transition" (Ghetto) and the store was beseiged.

It did not have any windows but that did not stop the "after hour shoppers" from trying. A combination of rising insurance rates, an economic downturn in the late 80s and BATFE :cuss: did them in.

I could go on but there are at least two dozen fairly good shops in the Houston area (Fountains Firearms, Jim Pruitt's Guns & Ammo, Bailey's House of Guns and Carters locations [go to the North location, better selection]).

I confess:uhoh: I go to Guns are Gold.....er Collectors Firearms, but the guys know me there (been going there for 20 years) and occationally get a "deal".

only 1 that I know of in Bellingham area. not including pawnshops. and 1 other gun shop 40 minutes away. nothing else in the area that I know of.

Used to have a great gun and archery store less than five minutes from my place. T& Sons closed just about a year ago, and as far as I know there is no
full time gun shop in this town of about 80,000.:( That is just wrong here in Texas to have a city this size with no gun shops! I'm not counting Walmart or a couple of very poor pawn shops.

I've got to drive at least 30 minutes to the nearest gun shop.
