I shoot the heck out of mine due to .22 ammo being pretty cheap .. I was wondering what the life expectancy of this gun could be?? Or what type of round count people have through theirs?? Thanks fellas!

I'm probably about 5000-6000, as its become my favorite .22 since its one of the few guns I can still shoot effectively with iron sights. Mine's the 7.5" fluted bull barrel model with the fiber optic front.

Had to go back to S&W after less than 1000 rounds as the "hook" at the back broke causing tremendous amount of mis-fires. S&W turned it around quickly and paid the shipping both ways. Gun has been basically perfect since.

Only quirk is most mags will have a stoppage with HP ammo on the second shot (or third of a 10+1 loading) caused by the HP opening catching on the mag catch cutout. Only on the second (or third) shot does things line up to catch, never done it after the second (or third) shot. Other than this its great with all the cheap ammo.

I'm not getting anywhere near the claimed 5000 round life of the plastic recoil spring buffer -- 2000-3000 is more like it. S&W has already send me another package of them for free when I asked.

Same here .. They sent me a few of em no questions asked .. I am going about 1500-2000 before I replace the buffer ..

About a zillion rounds....:D

I also had the cast "hook" break at around 500 rounds, and the rail has come loose once or so. I used thread lock on the screws. Not a problem now. I think I have changed buffers a few times.... You have to keep the action fairly clean, but other than that, it will shoot anything I put through it accurately and without fanfare. I have heard complaints about the trigger, mine must be the exception. Nice trigger on mine.

Great gun. I actually bought mine before the Klinton/S&W agreement so I've had mine a while.

It has a life time warranty, as long as s&w is around I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case and you shoot it to bit they'll pay for it to be shipped to them and have you a new one back in a few days. Mine has to be well over 10k rounds by now.

Mines has been fired very lottle since i got it. maybe around 300 rounds. Out of nowhere it suddenly became real tough to pull back the slide. A new guide rod was sent free of charge but it still seems to a problem. Other than that it shoots well.

I have no idea how many rounds I have through mine. I have shot velociters, mini mags, bulk of different configurations and never a prob. I actually had the hook on mine break also didnt realize just took it down to clean it mentioned to the customer service rep and said it was shooting fine I wasnt worried about it . A few days later I received a new one. You bought a smith shoot it enjoy it and if you ever have a problem with it wonderful customer service is a phone call away.

Mine's the 7.5" fluted bull barrel model with the fiber optic front.
wally,
Did you buy that 22A new? I have the same 22A but I bought it used. It wasn't used much so it was in great condition. When I tried to get information on it I couldn't find that model's product number anywhere so I wrote S&W. They told me the 22A's with those 7.5" Fluted Bull Barrels and Fiber Optic front sights were a special run made for AcuSport. Is that where you got your pistol?

As for rounds through the gun, my son and I have shot at least 4000 rounds through it already. It seems to be getting better with age actually!! LOL

When you remove the barrell. look directly under the rear sight the piece of of metal that sticks out or barrell horizontal the vertical piece under the sight
